  1. My boy Tony Fararo on the call keeps referring to scoring sequences as nice "plays." I know it's not fun for us, but it has to be brutal to be pretending like you have a real knowledge of a sport that you're just learning so you can get on a broadcast.
  2. He looked good. I didn't know who he was before they announced him.
  3. I assume that he's the one that sounds professional? The other guy seems to need a lot of corrections after making incorrect comments.
  4. Ah, a thoughtful reply. I don't disagree with you other than O'Toole being stale. When KOT locks in, it's a different guy than when he's wrestling someone that's not on his level. I'm curious if one season is going to be enough to get him over the hump, but I am hoping we get to see the matchup twice, if not three times. KOT is still my pick to win, but certainly not with a lot of confidence.
  5. Who would doubt his improvement? I was doubting the evidence to suggest that he would now become someone's pick to win the bracket. Are you picking Hamiti? Or were you just checking whether or not I was aware he's at a new school this year?
  6. Is that your way of saying that David Taylor and his staff are the reason you would pick him?
  7. Sorry, I was referring to OSU vs ILL but trying to find it an hour early.
  8. I can only assume it was a dismal attempt at being humorous.
  9. I don't dislike the pick, but I don't know what would make you pick Hamiti other than hoping for something that breaks the mold of expectations. Hamiti, his entire career, has been someone who could run up the score on anyone he was better than, but has exactly one top 5 win in his career (Caliendo last year 14-11). I love watching Hamiti wrestle, but I really don't think he matches up well against either Keegan or Levi.
  10. I cannot find the dual on B1G+, am I missing something? Edit: Oops, I read MTN time, but my head was thinking Central.
  11. Based on context it's obvious RawDog meant 1-2-3 as in 125-133-141. I do think Bouzakis' potential gets often dismissed because of his inconsistency last season. He's only a sophomore this season and Davino is obviously a stud that gets to wrestle with Bouzakis in the room, giving him an advantage of having a good feel for where Nic is dangerous. IMO Davino's win says more about his potential than any lack thereof for Bouzakis. Nic has this year and two more, if he can gain a little more poise and avoid unnecessary risks/over wrestling positions, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him in the finals or even win it all.
  12. Who's got better odds? Hamiti over Mesenbrink or Mineo vs the truth? Edit: The truth of his statement, not Ed "The Truth" Ruth. Just to get ahead of your jokes.
  13. What does this make him.. like 0-4 in the last month with his "breaking news" statements?
  14. Edit: Until I see Crookham lose, he's the favorite. I would give Romney as good a shot as anyone else in the field to make the finals though. Looking at last year's results, I don't think Crookham gave up a TD to anyone other than Vito.
  15. Just watched the entire match, that is all the context you need. Romney was definitely more active in looking for an angle in the first, but Nasir really just stood their and disengaged, not giving anything up but not even remotely looking for any offense. I was surprised when Romney and Bailey were walking back to center, however, that Bailey actually looked bigger than Romney, and Romney looked huge at CKLV. It could have just been the angle, or it could also help explain some of Bailey's struggles this season if he's not able to compete his best at 133. Romney just horsed him over in the second, and with the lack of action up to that point, it's kind of hard to imagine Bailey was that tired.
  16. They aren't airing this match to give MSU coverage, they are airing this match because PSU is involved.
  17. My apologies if this topic has been discussed prior to my joining this humble message board, but in the coaches that do the most with the least thread, the name Bono came up, and I looked through the rankings to find that they only have two ranked wrestlers and both outside of the top 25. The program has only gone downhill since Bono's arrival. I hope they don't keep him following this horrible season. If Wisconsin could get a coach that the AWA coaches liked (Ben has been on record several times talking poorly of Bono), they would undoubtedly retain at least some in state talent. Obviously wrestling is low on the priority list, but the AD has to know that Wisconsin's D1 high school talent is probably 10x what it has ever been in the past, and is now routinely developing big board level guys.. and none of that talent is committing to wrestle in their home state. It's a pipedream, as Ben has also stated many times that he doesn't want to deal with the bureaucracy of being a D1 coach, but seeing him takeover the program and create a boarder around Wisconsin would be awesome for NCAA wrestling. There is certainly no doubting his ability to coach guys to the highest level. I have no idea what Schwab's intentions are, but if Schwab were to get the job at Wisconsin, and bring Keckeisen on staff (I would assume Keckeisen is a fan of the UNI coaching staff, otherwise he could of undoubtedly got a hefty sum to go elsewhere), that would only strengthen the AWA connection and help keep at least some of the talent in state. Listening to Parker explain technique and his approach to wrestling, I can't imagine him being anything other than an excellent coach. Wisconsin would undoubtedly have a much higher capacity to bring in money for their program as they are the only D1 team in Wisconsin, rather than being the 3rd tier in the much smaller state of Iowa. If I were hiring the next coach of Wisconsin, I would without a doubt schedule a sit down with the Askren's and at least hear their input about who they would trust sending their wrestlers to. I think someone like Neil Erisman could be a potential candidate with how he has done with a brand new program in such a non-traditional wrestling state. Any other current head coaches or prominent assistant coaches that would be a good fit to keep some of the top recruits in state?
  18. I really think the alarm or whatever you want to call it emoji should be reserved for someone that is someone that is at least close to a top 10 guy upon their arriving. No offense to young Charlie.. but I'm not familiar with his work.
  19. That is too bad for Michigan St.
  20. I am genuinely curious how Bono still has the job at Wisconsin. I'm sure there are examples, but I find it kind of hard to imagine there have been many hires that have been such a complete disaster. I am assuming they are now the worst team in the B10 as they only have 2 ranked wrestlers.. #27 Rivera at 125, and #29 Fugitt at 133. I would have actually thought it would be impossible for a B10 team to only have 2 wrestlers in the top 33 in the country, but here we are.
  21. I am a bit curious to know how much of Sammy's struggles at 165 are purely physical limitations from the recovery, and how much is that he's just not a 165. At least at CKLV it looked mostly to me like he is giving up too much size/strength to where he's aren't able to wrestle through positions like he normally would. Maybe he'll be better at 157, but even if he's able to perform better at 157, beating Gallagher would be a pretty remarkable feat.
  22. I believe he is challenging for the 157 spot.
  23. He just transferred out of OKST last year.. he could have gone anywhere.
  24. If he was actually 257 I don't understand why he would try to make 197 unless he was extremely soft while weighing that much. He'd have been bigger than that majority of the ranked guys at 285.
  25. Thank you, I was going to ask the same thing.
