  1. What do they mean when they say “survey” here? Like they sent out a survey about unemployment benefits and are just citing some of the responses, or are they confirming these actually happened?
  2. But it seems silly to limit the judgement to only NCAA’s. Jamison has some great wins in the regular season/B12’s. I also wouldn’t totally poo-poo Alirez this year, despite the limited regular season schedule he did have an 8-2 win over Composto who ended up taking 4th. I’m guessing the loss to Rivera was more of a sad boy hours situation. It does seem that it is well known Jamison cuts a lot of weight, so in terms of can he replicate some of those 141 wins at 149, I would tend to think so. But sure, TBD if he can do it at NCAA’s.
  3. I mean he didn’t say he couldn’t coach either. His example of a “floor” was Chertow who ran very successful camps, so seems like he could coach too. Overall I’d actually agree with the comment that Spratley didn’t really jump levels. Since people are citing examples the best example of that is probably beating Strickenberger last year but then losing to him twice this year. He was able to peak at the right time though, Gilman may have helped with that but that could have been also more driven from Taylor
  4. I mean there’s not a huge separation there TBH. Tagg and Rivera both finished R16 this year. D’Emilio did not AA the year Swiderski beat him and Kinner finished 8th.
  5. Gilman did confirm he is going to NLWC (specifically said not PSU) as a coach.
  6. He can coach, can he deal with administrators? He seems like a guy that should open his own youth club
  7. Oh, the whole school and not just athletics
  8. Does it count as a transfer if you stay at the same school?
  9. Where are these numbers from? This xtweet says they only raised $37K for the entire athletics program?
  10. Was gonna say this as well. The only person with any significance I saw with “backlash” against it was Palacio, and Koll was jokingly replying to the post. He faced more backlash for saying the female students were good looking than for bringing in AJ.
  11. We’re inviting social media commenters famous for race baiting and doxxing LGBT folks to ride along with the Secretary of Homeland Security and “arrest” illegal immigrants now?
  12. Unrelated to Ryder specifically, one thing I thought was interesting about that interview was how they talked about how much they wrestled live at PSU practices. Ryder I believe mentioned doing 3 live matches with Dake, and I think Nickal said something about wrestling 8 in a row. So much for the people that say doing a lot of live wrestling is bad?
  13. Not sure about ISU but a “Real Estate Development” certificate seemed popular for the Michigan transfers
  14. But there’s also less guys in the portal than in total right? So of guys who were in the portal, you have Welsh, Elam, Ghadiali, Swiderski, and Volk who regular or medical redshirted this year but were AA’s in 2024. Of guys not in the portal, you have Bastida, Crookham, Stanich, Watters, Echemendia, Cardenas, not sure if I missed anyone. Seems to me the ratio of AA’s who missed this season in the portal is much higher than AA’s who missed this season that are not in the portal.
  15. I was referring to just those who transferred (the ones @Eagle26 pointed out in particular), although I suppose you are presenting this as evidence of previously high placing guys not competing but also not transferring?
  16. Seems like their forum is thinking Catka for heavyweight right?
  17. Good stuff as always. So AJ accounts for the majority of the points transferred right? Side note, I just noticed the Penn State wrestling club now requires a membership to view their postseason scoring data, that’s crap. Totally get your definition, but it does seem like a bit of an outlier for 2 previous top 3 finishers to transfer that did not compete at all this season.
  18. I‘m wondering if it was more about the Ivies cancelling the season than other “covid policies.” If that was the case then Stanford was an odd choice. Although I suppose he may have decided he was leaving either way and looking for just about anything at that point, Willie made this post at the time which IIRC Koll almost took a job as the RTC coach at UNC before the Stanford opportunity came up.
  19. Of course. But a husband/wife/kid often like having additional family around that don’t actually live with them.
  20. Did Gilman bring any family other than wife/kid?
  21. They seem pretty comparable to me. Jamison literally only lost to All-Americans this year, and beat the guy that got 2nd as well as a previous champ. FWIW wrestlestat has Jamison #4 and Swiderski #10 at 149
  22. Well he did bring some family with him…
