  1. Nope. Everything is just an allegation until it’s proven in court. That’s why Hegseth is not in jail and I’m fine with that. But I’m consistent: Garcia shouldn’t be in jail either unless they are going to charge him with something other than entering the country illegally. He shouldn’t be in our country but he also shouldn’t be in jail. And I don’t want to hear “what El Salvador does with their citizens is up to them,” because we’re the ones that sent him to prison there. The majority of Americans do not support Trump going against the Supreme Court, including people like myself that voted for him.
  2. I did not speak to the credibility of the allegations. But people are crucifying Garcia based on the allegations of a dirty cop and a criminal informant. Yet the worst he’s accused of his hitting his wife (still bad of course), whereas Hegseth is accused of rape. Garcia was never actually “accused of” human trafficking, fwiw.
  3. Our current secretary of defense has been accused of worse than Abrego Garcia
  4. Maybe he’s just Minnow’s burner then
  5. You might want to do a little more research on the subject
  6. Yes, they and about 7 other groups were all designated on the same day. Weird that 8 different gangs just started terrorizing us all at once
  7. I was not long out of college and didn’t follow politics when this happened, don’t think I had even heard of this guy until your post. So I just did a few minutes of research about him from various sources. No, he did not get due process but I know that sometimes when fighting actual terrorists we need to do things that might not totally follow due process. But I really don’t see any similarities with this guy and Abrego Garcia. That guy was a legit terrorist, and we had been investigating him for years, we didn’t arbitrarily decide he was a terrorist based on the word of a criminal informant and a report by a dirty cop. He helped inspire the Fort Hood attack. We have no evidence Abrego Garcia is a terrorist, even if he is in MS-13. MS-13 hasn’t attacked the US like Al-Qaeda did. So yeah, I really don’t get this comparison. And it’d be especially ironic if anyone thought Awlaki should have gotten due process while simultaneously doesn’t care what happened to Abrego Garcia. What’s even more ironic is a couple months ago right wing news outlets such as the NY Post criticized USAID for “bankrolling” Awklaki’s college tuition. Yet that was before he showed any signs of being radicalized…
  8. You’re joking, right?
  9. Thanks for the links. Some more paywalls, but as far as I can tell, the first, an opinion piece from whatever “isthmus.com” is, seems to be the only one actually suggesting to get rid of them. The rest look to mostly just be saying we need to make sure cops actually turn them on, and that they shouldn’t be used to record expressions of the first amendment where there is no criminal suspicion
  10. Has this guy said we should get rid of body cams?
  11. What “reevaluation”? The article sounds like mostly race-baiting speculation, no wonder the Daily Wire is reportedly in danger of going bankrupt
  12. Who wants to get rid of them? Can you copy the rest of the article? I’m not paying for the Daily Wire
  13. Seems like someone should at least ask Bukele why he was transferred. My biggest question is isn’t CECOT the terrorist prison? Bukele stated he was a terrorist, so if that were the case why isn’t he still there?
  14. Maybe. Even more reason that it defies logic that they won’t ask for him back.
  15. I’ve been trying to follow the updates, honestly didn’t even realize he was no longer there, thank you. So would that mean we are no longer paying for him to be imprisoned? It’s also curious that Bukele stated definitely he was a terrorist, yet released him from the “terrorist prison”? He also risked a Con Air-style escape by transferring him to a different prison, so then he shouldn’t be concerned about any escapes if being put on a plane to the US
  16. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5252884-deportation-legal-battle/ “back in 2019, Abrego Garcia sought asylum and protection from removal from the U.S. on the basis that his life would be in danger if he was returned to El Salvador. The immigration judge denied the asylum claim because the time limits to make such a claim had expired. But he did indeed rule Abrego Garcia should not be deported to El Salvador.”
  17. And wasn’t it denied?
  18. Withholding of removal isn’t asylum. Did the people in the link apply for asylum or withholding of removal?
  19. Cool story, Abrego Garcia didn’t get asylum though so I don’t see the relevance?
  20. Laird is an OK example, but he did get R12 in his last tournament at heavyweight, so not exactly a huge jump. And the year he got 6th the highest seed he beat was 12 and at the tournament he did not beat anyone that AA’d
  21. The fact that Bastida has now on multiple occasions been used as an example for someone doing “worse” at 285, IMO is proof that it’s far more common to do better. I’m not sure how “injured” he really was at the end of this season btw…
  22. New decision from conservative appellate judge about sums it up: “It is difficult in some cases to get to the very heart of the matter. But in this case, it is not hard at all. The government is asserting a right to stash away residents of this country in foreign prisons without the semblance of due process that is the foundation of our constitutional order. Further, it claims in essence that because it has rid itself of custody that there is nothing that can be done. This should be shocking not only to judges, but to the intuitive sense of liberty that Americans far removed from courthouses still hold dear.” https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.ca4.178400/gov.uscourts.ca4.178400.8.0.pdf
