The correlation between Noto and Hildebrandt is a little eerie to me honestly. They both finished 4th while wrestling for a mid major, but also have multiple losses to guys that finished much lower. There is a ton of parity at 125, so Noto is no shoo-in to AA again next year.

You don’t know anything about him but you know he’s a stud? I don’t know if I’d go that far (although his match with Minnino was one of the best HS matches of all time IMO) but I also don’t think Noto would be a noticeable upgrade. There’s just so much parity at 125. Noto lost to Heinselman this year and Howard has beaten (and lost twice to) Heinselman. And of course we all know the last time PSU got a mid-major transfer that finished 4th at NCAA’s the year before, he went 1-2 the next year…

I doubt anyone “approached him” at NCAA’s. They usually just wait until world competitions and have the NLWC athletes do it

But when you're on national TV, I think a little more decency is expected in terms of talking about other people's faiths. And honestly I don't really care all that much that Brooks said it. The bigger issue IMO is the NCAA tweeting it out (especially since they didn't even tweet out all the post-match interviews)

Sorry just realized my post could have been misunderstood, yes I was referring to "the hand" as the color. Yes as you said there should be swipes when possible. But what do you mean by "the issue"? Yes Rivera did screw up the colors at first, but do you think that had an impact on him not counting to 4? I'd guess no.

A lot of refs don’t necessarily swipe with the hand getting NF. But as you mentioned earlier, Angel did give Woods’ initial nearfall and Alirez’s reversal to the wrong colors and was holding the 2 NF for Alirez as red before switching to green to award it.
