  1. I’m sure I’m missing some but recently in addition to Bo there is Bryce Meredith, Mitch McKee, and Cassar who as far as I can tell all appear to have some promise. As far as guys “expected” to go to MMA, I think RBY and Austin O’Connor are a couple more.
  2. Apparently they did the milk truck thing like 20 years ago, so I wouldn’t just blame it all on the “kids these days”…
  3. Whoops, didn’t realize Jimmy already started a similar thread…
  4. And please, no one write “Stevenson,” I don’t want @ionel to derail the thread
  5. Interestingly, 3 of these 4 guys were Olympic wrestlers and even the 4th was apparently a Fargo Greco champ (Nikola Bogojevic)
  6. Thanks. Wasn’t there also a PA 103 bracket with Cenzo, Kemerer, and Lizak that Lizak won?
  7. Ayala back wrestling already?
  8. So who are the 3 that didn’t? Richards - I assume yes Gross - I assume yes Yianni - I assume yes - it wasn’t just as an 8th grader though right? Pantaleo - ??? Nolf - ??? (Probably worth noting that Joseph did though if Nolf didn’t) Burroughs - yes Zahid - yes Jackson - guessing no? (Saw him reply to Willie’s tweet saying he was 112 though) Snyder - assuming no Zillmer - yes
  9. This seems like a strawman. No one is saying guys that didn’t wrestle 103/106 can’t be good. Simply pointing out that many of the guys that become the best in the country/world often started out there. And I’m sure 100 lbs is still well below the average weight even for freshmen. Which I’m also sure is a main reason there are a lot of “smaller” kids that wrestle, since it’s one of the few sports where your size/weight doesn’t matter as much.
  10. My favorite 103 story to tell people is that 3 NCAA Champions and 2 Olympians wrestled 103 in NJ in 2002-2003, none of which even finished in the top 3. Burroughs - lost first round of districts Gomez - 1-2 at states Caldwell - 4th The bracket was won by current Cornell head coach Mike Grey, I believe his first of 4 state titles where he would be the first ever to accomplish that feat http://jkopesky.entnet.com/2002-2003_NJSIAA_States.pdf
  11. I see Hepner won, but did they really give him seeding credit for a win in a wrestleoff? Lol
  12. Same
  13. How about the version of Spencer Lee that wrestled against ISU?
  14. No I don’t know what the release is, as evidenced by my previous post asking who was even supposed to sign it. I think how each involved party would define “jumping through hoops” is probably the crux of the disagreement here…
  15. “They support it” is kinda a vague statement. They could think he should be able to wrestle with no intervention required, but still not actually sign whatever release is being referred to. Clearly other people involved (Manning, Snyder & Burwick) disagree with Wisconsin’s statement.
  16. So would Bono have anything to do with signing this supposed release? Or the AD? Because Wisconsin’s statement only referred to the Athletics department, not the wrestling team. Is it possible the AD wanted to sign it but Bono didn’t?
  17. C’mon man, it seems like you’re being purposely obtuse here.
  18. This is the author of the article:
  19. Nevills was absolutely recruited over for Kerk. Although technically it seems like his fellow world team members were the ones that did the actual recruiting. Yes, some guys like Dean may not have actually been “recruited” if they chose to go there on their own, but they still replaced other guys. Not that there’s really anything wrong with that, especially at Penn State everyone should be expecting to have to compete for the starting spot.
  20. The Wisconsin statement doesn’t say anything about signing the release/waiver or whatever. As @npope said, it appears to be carefully worded with just vague statements that they’ve “supported” him and “worked with” Nebraska. It seems the decision technically is in the hands of the NCAA, but that they could influence/possibly confirm the decision by signing the release/waiver
  21. Anyone bet against Downey? Not sure how he got to be such a big favorite
  22. Ah, thanks
  23. Agree on 1 & 2. I do think #3 may be possible. Honestly hate to say it but I’d probably say Minnow is more relevant than Basch (the # of twitter followers would back this up). Basch is pretty much just a PSU homer that has some inside access. Brands may have been referring to Willie though as I believe he had also thought Kem was done for the year.
  24. Yeah I’m sure potential recruits will see this and think Bono could give them a hard time if they end up entering the portal
