  1. Well his mom sure seems willing to share what she knows, might try messaging her on Facebook
  2. I don’t think anyone would bitch about him MFF’ing to a teammate. If it was a non-teammate ranked in the top 10 or so sure
  3. All of it IMO. But I could definitely see them not making him do it. And sorry all, I misread Minnow’s tweet. I thought he claimed Lee wanted a double MFF, but it claimed Lee wanted Ayala to MFF to him. I definitely agree with Ayala not wanting to do that.
  4. Yeah I don’t have much issue with 4 wins beating 6 in a dual. 3 over 7 I would. I totally get the “they would have wrestled differently” argument, but I feel like for the most part that doesn’t usually come into play until the last few matches at most. Or is the argument that this scoring system would make the matches more exciting because guys would want to win by more? I’d understand that argument more than “the current scoring is confusing and arbitrary” Cornhole has “arbitrary” scoring too. And if we’re talking about confusion, I agree the scoring at NCAA’s would be a much bigger issue. But if the question is what can we do to get wrestling on TV more, I just think changing the dual meet scoring format would be pretty far down my priority list. Not to derail the thread but off the top of my head IMO all of the below would be more beneficial: 1. Get rid of singlets 2. Cauliflower ear (make guys wear headgear in practice) 3. 3-point takedown and/or pushout rule 4. Get rid of riding time - it encourages stalling and is also confusing to casual fans (IMO moreso than the scoring system) 5. Consistent stalling calls/make it actually a rule that top guy needs to work for a fall
  5. I think the answer is he doesn’t, that’s why he has no gas tank
  6. I think it was really only in the 2019-2020 season until Covid hit. Damn Covid
  7. I could be wrong but I’m still not sure that’s true, but if so then the claim is he wanted Ayala to MFF to him then? Minnow is claiming Lee wanted a double MFF so it wouldn’t have counted for either
  8. And I know a MFF is one match less he needed to wrestle. But I don’t see what the problem would have been if he MFF’ed to Ayala.
  9. More than Minnow were saying he said “I’m done” after the semis, and while I’m not a professional lip reader, it definitely seems like (and his body language would agree) he says something to the effect of “he wanted it” here
  10. But Lee said he didn’t want the match…
  11. Have seen bits and pieces. 149 (Thomas over Parco) and 165 (Monday over Hamiti) were good. Also not sure if this was already mentioned but broadcasters said they talked to Kenny Monday who confirmed Quincy was planning to stay at 165 for the remainder of the season.
  12. I don’t think so, but even if they did why would Lee care about Ayala’s match count during a redshirt year?
  13. I will say it seems silly if it’s actually true (and it may not be) that Lee didn’t want Ayala to be able to take a FF. Lee is a 3x national champ, what’s wrong with letting Ayala be the Soldier Salute champ?
  14. Wait, this is being called a “push”? Lol

Can we put to rest the “college needs a 220” argument yet?
  16. But if you’re watching a college match you probably already understand the scoring system. This just seems like trying to fix a problem that doesn’t really need fixing. Much bigger fish to fry if we’re making changes IMO
  17. Just looking at Soldier Salute brackets…is Caleb Gross at SDSU Gross’s brother? Also weren’t there rumors that Bono essentially pushed out McDonough to make room for Gross on the coaching staff?
  18. We talked about this on the old forum. I don’t like it. Sure, 6-5-4-3 is arbitrary but I think it works in determining who the better team was that day. And you’d still need an a arbitrary amount for a pin with this. And yes, the 9 1-0 matches vs 1 pin scenario isn’t going to happen, but something like 1 team winning 7 matches with an average margin of victory of 7 but losing 50-49 because they lost 2 by pin and 1 by 10 definitely could (I found 1 or 2 examples just in the past couple yesrs in the last thread) I don’t see how it would even be much if any easier to understand for fans. In high school many duals will end up with ~250+ total team points
  19. The Soldier Salute feels like an Iowa fundraiser. Come out to one of your only chances to see Spencer Lee this season!!
  20. Accidentally replied in the Midlands thread, but I said lol that Lee would wrestle in this and not a dual against Penn that they had a chance of losing
  21. I don’t think Echemendia would count on Murin’s record? But they may still MFF because of “injury risk”
  22. lol at Lee wrestling in this but not in a dual against Penn that they had a chance of losing
  23. Yeah I got you @Idaho. I’m not sure if @H82Losewas even talking about the traditional Power 5 though which isn’t really relevant to wrestling? Maybe was trying to designate the “Power 5” as being the top 5 wrestling schools or something?
  24. “IMO.” But it’s his alma mater and one of the most storied programs in wrestling. He’s doing a good job at Oregon State, but I THINK he could do even better at OSU Also, it’s easy for Pendleton to put an end to the speculation now, the job’s not actually open. And tons of coaches in all sports deny interest in other jobs only to take it a couple weeks later
