  1. This one didn’t seem politically motivated. Looks like more a factor of living through a parents’ divorce, possibly witnessing abuse, etc. The shooter was likely not conservative, although his parents were. Just enough information for both sides to blame the other, in reality it was probably the fault of neither
  2. This podcast says at 1:02 that they believe the reason for Arnold’s dismissal (or at least the final straw) was that the staff asked him to come to campus and he did not. No mention of lying about a camp, but there was mention of him being on vacation with his girlfriend. This was the first I’ve seen a media member talk about an actual reason for his departure. I was surprised Flo basically chalked it up to “well he probably wasn’t going to start anyway.” Which is particularly stupid because they’d need him if Kennedy or Ferrari get hurt, maybe even Caliendo if it happened early enough to allow Kennedy to drop to 165. And BOTH Caliendo and Kennedy graduate this year, so they could have easily just had him “medical redshirt” like Nagao and Facundo.
  3. *SD, yes I knew there were other guys besides Buchanan and Teemer that did that last year, thank you for the reminder
  4. So how were Buchanan and Teemer able to just show up at Iowa (and I think guys at other schools did similarly)? Were they all grad students?
  5. Fair point, IAWrestle’s official x account didn’t even make a post about it…
  6. It would be pretty crappy for Iowa not to comment. Hopefully they will eventually. Maybe now Brands will learn to wrestle his best team. If they started Arnold as a true freshman they may have been able to get 2nd. And now he’ll be scoring zero points for them.
  7. Does this mean they wrestled exactly to their seed every year, or the average of their placements was the same as the average of their seeds?
  8. Sounds like @Husker_Du knows. Said on Iowa board that it had nothing to do with Nicolls’ post. So I’m guessing the first we’ll hear of the reason is a post from Minnow that has 75% of the details correct
  9. So is Bartlett saying he told Cael someone accused Starocci of raping them?
  10. I read the Facebook post from the Southern Oregon wrestler, that did not sound consensual. My understanding is Perry’s relarionship(s) was never accused of not being consensual (similar to the allegations about Starocci). That’s a pretty significant distinction IMO.
  11. So do you know anything about the Moorman situation? And with the Park Merry situation, was that even anything that was potentially criminal? Obviously not a good look and I get other athletes getting upset about it, but my understanding was that was a relationship between consenting adults. Very different from the Starocci allegations IMO
  12. I suppose this buys Kyle Snyder some more time to still be NLWC’s starting 97, and also take some heat off his hypocrisy.
  13. Seriously, this has gotta be the biggest takeaway. This test needs to also cast major doubt on his first test which he largely got a pass for.
  14. If a suspension becomes official, isn’t it usually announced what substance they tested positive for?
  15. So is this how he gets muscular without lifting?
  16. It’s possible Beau gave some additional details to the police, but not sure why you would assume that. And if he did, I would think it would have been more likely about Carter being accused of sexual assault than about him taking naked pictures in the locker room. My read of the article was that Beau thought the “retaliation” was because Carter’s girlfriend broke up with him after Syd told her about the allegations.
  17. But the only reason you’re saying the situations are “different” is because of the nature of their explanations: Brooks is admitting to taking the substance, but not knowing it was banned. Fix claimed he didn’t know he was taking anything. If we can agree that neither explanation is likely true, then the situations are in fact similar.
  18. I just searched her name and there is one article saying she’s no longer the coach and that’s about it. Even on xtwitter a search of her name reveals zero posts since 4 months prior to her no longer being the coach. Whatever happened, it looks like quite literally, no one is talking about it
  19. Yeah, don’t think it’s fair to include tOSU also since Strauss wasn’t really part of the wrestling community.
  20. Why would you assume the photos were reported to police?
  21. They’re similar in the sense that both wrestlers are making excuses for why they failed. You only think they’re different because you find Fix’s excuse more plausible. But giving him a “B” for plausibility is laughable IMO. I don’t see any way Derek would have left PED’s in an unmarked water bottle in an easily accessible refrigerator, as in addition to Daton there were other children living there.
