That's what some think. Will Iowa let AJ in this year after a year of good behavior? I guess Bob has a decision he needs to make.
-
Whether people like it or not, AJ has done his part this year to get his career back on track. He has, for the most part, kept his behavior in check, dialed it down and wrestled pretty tough last night against #7. Unless a train wreck happens leading up to or in Philly, I see him getting some good NIL and moving on. I am sure that Iowa is #1 on his list, but is he #1 on Iowa's list.
-
Little got to him with his sweep single on the edge in the first period to force that stall call out of bounds. I think you are right about going under him....I think the best option is what Little did and then be patient to finish.
-
He looked really good first half of the season then dropped off. He is pretty tough and wrestles pretty light for a HWT
-
On one of the two gramby rolls or it looked like he may have taken a knee to the eye on one of the rolls. He came back with a bandaid just over his right eye. He looked foggy. Nevermind he had the bandaid. On the replay he may have taken a knee to the eye on the second roll.
-
Concussion protocol... bummer. I hope we see this play out. Ferrari riding tough, but you can see him tiring.
-
He has shown flashes all season but could not put it all together.
-
Williams has looked really good today.
-
Yeah I think so too.... Romney has really jumped levels this year. Singleton looking good in the finals. He has really upped his game the second half of the season. Williams vs Stiles next. Should be a good one.
-
Yeah- Renteria looked really focused and active. He has been shutting down early, but the last few matches he has been going to the whistle. I am also glad he kept the guns in the holster after the match.
-
If Renteria wins at 125 - Holman will have to wrestle Castro-Sandoval for true 2nd. If Holman wins there will be no true 2nd since Renteria beat CS. If Romney beats Bailey then Bailey will have to wrestle Elliot for true 2nd. If Bailey wins it''s done since Romney beat Elliot If Tinker beats Andrews then Andrews will have to wrestle Mower for true 2nd. If Andrews wins then it's done since Tinker beat Mower. No team points added for true 2nd. Little Rock 69.5 Oregon State 69.5 Cal Poly 66 Cal State 44

Unfortunately not.... the Thursday did not work out for work and time off. First one I have missed in a while. I'm Floing like everyone else.
-
I am really hoping the crowd is on him so we can get some good reactions.
-
To see AJ gas in the 3rd and lose a close match to Little after predicting he would major Little and tech Munoz, tune in at around 10:30 ET.
-
True seconds only happen if the 2nd place finisher has not wrestled the 3rd place finisher. If they have already wrestled they don't wrestle the match. I would be surprised if they show the true seconds. In years past they have not.
-
Yep - I agree - It was not a great move financially for Stanford when you consider they get a very low share and now their teams are traveling the world it seems. Cal should have also stayed out west from a conference point of view.
-
Nice precedence to set that if you are suspended for violating the fighting/violence code of conduct at your school, you can take it to court and they will overturn the school's decision that the student and parents signed off on in the student handbook.

Always stuff going on behind closed doors... Good to know he has come a long way this season. I think that some programs and coaches have become so closed off that they share nothing, when a little info could go a long way. Not picking on just Iowa, but I think as a collective sport things gets silenced when it comes to injuries , which I get. But at the same time, it's really easy to say, "Gabe is dealing with some personal things right now and we thought best he not wrestle this weekend. We too are looking forward to having our guys compete. Right now it's most important for Gabe to not compete." I realize that causes some speculation, but it seems like silence sometimes invites a lot online theories that actually do more harm to the wrestler in question than any good. I remember a really good story that Ryan Milhoff shared about his struggles. Made me respect and root for that guy.

In the Pac 12 we call the semis preliminaries and the championship finals "Liminaries"
-
So the judge barred the the NJ High Schoool Assoc. from disqualifying him and he barred the school from suspending him based on their disciplinary policy in their handbook? I was under the impression that this was only dealing with the Assoc. and the school was a separate issue although they supported NJHSAA.

Yeah, not a very big conference, not a lot of big name, but should see some good matchups nonetheless . 4 man bracket. Action starts at 12:30 PT on Flo. A couple interesting ranked first round (semi) matches: 149 - Williams vs Lamer 157- Hamblin vs Lamer 197 - Munoz vs Little HWT - Mower vs 6'7" Tinker Potential Finals with ranked wrestlers 125: Renteria vs Holman 133: Bailey vs Romney III 149: Stiles vs WIlliams/Lamer 157: Bianchi vs Hamblin/Lamer 197: Ferrari vs Munoz/Little Hwt: Andrews vs Mower/Tinker BRACKETS: https://pac-12.com/documents/2025/3/4//Pac_12_2025_Brackets_final.pdf

Zeke has two more years on his contract...they just moved conferences.... He's not going anywhere until after the 2026-27 season. Two yeas is a long time in NCAA years... a lot could happen. The loss of Sunkist and the money hits hard at ASU. I don't know about their current donors or money situation, but it may be harder for them than an Ok State to go the same route with a Dake, Burroughs, Snyder, etc. Not only do. you need the money to get the coach, you need the money to then bring in the team they want to build.
-
One thing that I learned is some new math... a quad billionth is more than a trillionth. Best wrestling room in the country Unfortunately he only gets Little or Munoz and not both because somehow he was rewarded with the #1 seed.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything either. Odd that every school that I am aware of has an automatic suspension rule on fighting, and this is a private school as well. Having videos circulating out there of your student punching another student in the stands at a school event, going to a hearing over eligibility then being charged with assault, seems like the school would issue their own disciplinary action since it happened at a school event. Probably scared to get involved with all the legal stuff and attention... maybe he will get a detention after the tournament.
-
Have you seen the video of him wailing on the kid in the stands with his mom trying to break it up? He's lawfully an adult, punching a minor 3-5 times on video that was also witnessed by a police officer.... not sure why he wouldn't be charged.
