I think it's really just precautionary to the entire situation.... If Tarleton told me I didn't need to go into the portal, I would go into the portal. If the NCAA said, you don't need to go into the portal, I would go into the portal. If Little Rock said, you still have eligibility....well I would still go into the portal.

Technically an official invitation cannot be given out by a conference if they have not been approved for D1 status...however the invitation is there to join the Pac12 contingent on D1 status approval. I don't think the one year JUCO waiver applies to him since he was not exhausting his eligibility in 25-26. 2 years JUCO - 1 year did not attend in-between JUCO schools. Not sure if that will count against him or not. He was listed as a RSJR at Iowa State. That would mean 1 year left...but if the year out does not count then he would have 2. Not sure how that will play out.

In the last 6 years Ohio State has performed above seed at the NCAA 5 times. The one time they haven't was this past season. Despite a meltdown at the NCAA, they only finished 5 points below their seed points. 2021 Had 3 top 8 seeds - Finished with 3 AA - 9th 46.5 points (performed slightly above- had two guys who were not expected to win a match who won 3 each -D' Emilio and Jordan) 2022 had 4 top 8 seeds - Finish with 4 AA - 13th 44 points (performed slightly above based on unseeded guys) 2023 OSU projected 52.5 points - finished 4th at 70.5 points 2024 OSU projected 14th at 31.5 points by their seeds....they finished 8th at 62 points 2025 - OSU projected 11th with 36.5 points by seeds - Finished 5th at 51.5 points 2026 Ohio State projected 3rd 89.5 points - Finished 5th 84.5 points - Despite a meltdown, they didn't finish too far off their seeds

I believe that anything over $600 has to be a contract. It goes through NILGo the clearinghouse - where they review the written contract. Anything under $600 I could see flying under the radar in terms of contract. This would be where you see some local agreements happen (as mentioned earlier) if it's a real small amount for food or whatever. The smart thing to do would be to have it in writing. Athletes getting 6 figures are usually not getting it all in cash but in other perks like housing, new car/truck leases, etc. There have been a number of wrestlers that have done videos supporting the local dealership and the lease they have (Ferrari when at CSUB for example). Any athlete getting that kind of deal should have a lawyer looking it over, not just an agent.

Why recruit them out of high school when you can recruit them after another school gets them on the podium their true freshman year?
