Nope - Technically he was ineligible all season long. He should have to vacate wins - including the Pac12. If that's the case, then 2nd place is Murphy Menke Oregon State- that's the scenario I am going with. But of course, they will probably go with the alternate.

Moisey was unseeded, but he was 31-13 on the season. Sheets had a losing record at 5-7 and got the 33 seed as an at-large. I think that is probably the best example. If we are talking NCAA champs, Mark Branch went into the NCAA with a losing record in 1994...he would have had the last seed if they would have seeded all 32 in the tournament at that time.

I don't think I have heard of any girls that only wrestled folk in high school knowing they would be wrestling freestyle in college. Nor do I not know any girls who didn't know which style they were actually wrestling in the middle of a match. Weird.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I will say that one difference is that wrestlers are wrestling to defend that in freestyle, whereas not really wrestling to defend it in folk. Not being ready to defend that or being in that mindset to defend can add to it being potentially more dangerous than just a mat return.

Kind of surprised that the ACC didn't get 4 at 133 ... also surprised Norman didn't qualify through the tourney.

CJ absolutely deserved a spot there as we agree ... wins over several guys who qualified, #21 in coaches poll, 1 spot below qualification at conference, bonus point for cool factor.

I was reading in the NCAA manual and came across this. It seems they are not automatically eliminated, but would not meet that criteria... they could meet two other criteria to still be eligibile. "On March 10, wrestlers in each weight class will receive an updated Win %, RPI and coaches’ ranking that includes all competition through the qualifying events. Wrestlers who meet or exceed any two of the following criteria will be eligible for at-large consideration: ● .700 Win % ● Top 33 RPI ● Top 33 CR ● .700 winning percentage against all competition ● One win against a wrestler receiving an earned position (preallocated) ● Qualifying event placement one below number of preallocated spots Only wrestlers that meet or exceed two of the above criteria will be eligible for selection as at-large qualifiers. A wrestler must have participated in at least two matches in his respective conference or qualifying tournament in order to be considered for at-large selection to the championships."

By "Selections for the 2025 NCAA D1 Wrestling Champ. announced" do you mean at-large selections? Aren't those on March 12?

@SetonHallPirate you have Conway as a victim at 157 - The Big 12 gets 7 at 157 and he finished 7th from what I can see.

The criteria for at large from the NCAA: "The coaches’ ranking and RPI are two of several criteria that will be evaluated during the at-large selection and seeding process along with head-to-head competition, quality wins, conference tournament placement, results versus common opponents and win percentage." @SetonHallPirate is it possible for a wrestler who did not earn an allocation to be able to pass a wrester who did earn an allocation to get an at-large?

23 or 24 - graduated in 2019.
