  1. Dresser also said they were "eliminated and then put back" then later says that they haven't been told anything. He also speaks of the backroom meeting that took place.
  2. Yeah, in the Dresser interview he had not been informed why the decision changed. He also talked about how they were not in the weigh in line because they were still losing weight. Justin Basch also reported a lot of info on it and had reported initially that they were DQ and out of the tournament. Rock Harrison also reported that they had missed their skin checks. I haven't seen any comments from Schwab yet or know if he said anything since it would have affected his team the most.
  3. The real question here, is if Bono signed off on allowing Brennan to wrestle.
  4. I'm a pac12 guy and never even noticed... with the free year, med years, oly shirts, grey shirts, etc. Somebody should probably audit the field.
  5. Nope - there is no spirt or intent for a weigh in rule for conference championships. It's in writing - it's been that way for a long time. You are in favor of giving some guys extra time to make weight but not others? It's weigh in - it's a big part of wrestling and it is important. The babies are actually the ones who can't meet the expectations and need the rules changed just for them.
  6. According to a couple of coaches, Belton and Jamison were both still cutting weight when wrestlers were suppose to be in line for the weigh in. Initially they were DQ and other coaches were told this. Then they had a meeting and reversed their decision. At the end of the tournament, still no clarification was given as to why (according to Dresser). In essence, two guys got extra time to make weight that others did not get. You can call it whatever you want, but there is no "spirit of the law" here- it's literally in writing as a rule and has been for quite a while. If they had been in line when they were suppose to , would they have made weight? It doesn't sound like they would have. They would have been DQ.
  7. Starocci was a #9 seed. Disqualified.
  8. Yes, but more than just ranked guys. There is a formula used to determine who gets the at-large births (wild cards)
  9. Nope - Technically he was ineligible all season long. He should have to vacate wins - including the Pac12. If that's the case, then 2nd place is Murphy Menke Oregon State- that's the scenario I am going with. But of course, they will probably go with the alternate.
  10. Moisey was unseeded, but he was 31-13 on the season. Sheets had a losing record at 5-7 and got the 33 seed as an at-large. I think that is probably the best example. If we are talking NCAA champs, Mark Branch went into the NCAA with a losing record in 1994...he would have had the last seed if they would have seeded all 32 in the tournament at that time.
  11. I don't think I have heard of any girls that only wrestled folk in high school knowing they would be wrestling freestyle in college. Nor do I not know any girls who didn't know which style they were actually wrestling in the middle of a match. Weird.
  12. I don't necessarily disagree, but I will say that one difference is that wrestlers are wrestling to defend that in freestyle, whereas not really wrestling to defend it in folk. Not being ready to defend that or being in that mindset to defend can add to it being potentially more dangerous than just a mat return.
  13. Anybody know which coaches voted on which weights in the final coaches ranking?
  14. Kind of surprised that the ACC didn't get 4 at 133 ... also surprised Norman didn't qualify through the tourney.
  15. CJ absolutely deserved a spot there as we agree ... wins over several guys who qualified, #21 in coaches poll, 1 spot below qualification at conference, bonus point for cool factor.
  16. https://www.ncaa.com/news/wrestling/article/2025-03-11/ncaa-announces-large-selections-2025-division-i-wrestling-championships In case you didn't see it in the other thread.
  17. I was reading in the NCAA manual and came across this. It seems they are not automatically eliminated, but would not meet that criteria... they could meet two other criteria to still be eligibile. "On March 10, wrestlers in each weight class will receive an updated Win %, RPI and coaches’ ranking that includes all competition through the qualifying events. Wrestlers who meet or exceed any two of the following criteria will be eligible for at-large consideration: ● .700 Win % ● Top 33 RPI ● Top 33 CR ● .700 winning percentage against all competition ● One win against a wrestler receiving an earned position (preallocated) ● Qualifying event placement one below number of preallocated spots Only wrestlers that meet or exceed two of the above criteria will be eligible for selection as at-large qualifiers. A wrestler must have participated in at least two matches in his respective conference or qualifying tournament in order to be considered for at-large selection to the championships."
  18. He actually started out fairly strong at OSU...but did not end well. He's at Cal Poly Humboldt with Lenny
  19. Hey bud, I'm refreshing every 10 seconds like you....
  20. Don't forget that you need to power that thing. Perhaps this solves many of our problems in America.
  21. Sounds good - I will have to work this from my phone...and internetting is new to Idaho, so please be patient.
  22. Yes - I think it's at 12 ET full list (at-large) are realeased.
  23. Just an update that 32-33 year old Nate Ronan, who we discussed in this thread in October, placed 8th at the NJCAA national tournament.
  24. By "Selections for the 2025 NCAA D1 Wrestling Champ. announced" do you mean at-large selections? Aren't those on March 12?
  25. Did we ever settle on a draft night and time? Sunday night March 16?
