    Not true in college wrestling rooms. They're overwhelmingly conservative/christian. This is why it's wise for coaches to stay out of politics altogether. Whatever you say, you're going to piss off someone whose support you need.

    From both a recruiting perspective and alumni donation perspective, it's unwise for an active coach in any sport to get political. Tom Ryan's not dumb - he knows this. I suspect he may be eying retirement and pivoting towards a career in politics to be the next Jim Jordan.

    I know what the allegations are, but it's crazy he's been sidelined this long with no resolution in sight. The team is in the middle of their Big Ten schedule with conference championships a few weeks away. No way on earth would they treat a football or basketball coach this way - max. suspension for those guys is one or two games for major violations. This clothing thing is such a small deal and low dollar amount, it's hard to believe it's being taken so seriously.

    Among fully-funded scholarship programs, that puts them close to last place.

    It wasn't my thread - I'm not into politics, but am interested to hear what wrestling coaches tweet. Seems more relevant to college wrestling than "5 words for 5 words" which has been going for 3+ yrs.

    Overall, there's been a lot more flexibility and less censorship on this "new" board. We've allowed threads about Starocci's off-the-mat allegations, AJ Ferrari getting arrested, or Braeden Davis out partying. Strange that a wrestling coach's twitter comment is now censored.

    There was a 2-week period where Josh Barr was wearing a basketball jersey type thing under his singlet. I was digging it.

    Tights/compression pants rock. Robes rock. Can get behind the 2-piece singlet. Not a fan of the concussion "headgear" that's used as a weapon.

    I thought the move to this new platform meant more free speech and less censorship? Twitter posts by a Big Ten wrestling coach are certainly newsworthy...

    And I agree that we have a rules conflict. We're defining riding without turning as stalling, while at the same time rewarding it with a point. Should be one of the other.

    It's just what I've always assumed to be the case. If someone is trying to score points in any position - top, bottom, or neutral - it's the opposite of stalling.

    As long as we give a point for riding time, riding with no effort to turn is still being offensive. It's not stalling if you're trying to secure that riding time point (or protect it if already earned).

    Now that refs are calling it 2+ times in every single match, we need a viewer box on the screen showing them. Kind of like how football and basketball show remaining timeouts. So many matches are now impacted by the increase in stalling calls that it's a relevant scoring metric. Well we're at it, riding time should also always be on the screen.

    I can't recall the last time I've seen a D1 team forfeit 197 or hwt. Every roster is several kids deep at each weight. Not sure where you're getting this "fewest populated weight classes" info. They're plenty populated.

    Some of the arguments against it are that 215/220 and hwt are the most forfeited weights at the HS level and the best athletes at that size are all playing football. I don't necessarily agree with those arguments, but that's what people say.

    Ziola is a Nebraska kid with family nearby, so may not be like Stiles. Stiles also is just one of those kids that loves to transfer - did it in HS and is on his 3rd college.
