I guess I just don't know. I assume MMA is not strict? You're saying they are? I hear they test all NCAA finalists before their championship matches, so presumably Gable would have been tested before every final (when he looked much bigger than last weekend).

I like Hokit - entertaining and enjoy his fight style. But he's wrong - Michelle Obama is all woman. There's lots of wrestlers who get handled right out of the gate and then they get better. Gable just happens to be higher profile so everyone notices. If he sticks with it, he'll be more savvy and have a strong career. Incidentally, I don't understand - did he stop lifting and eating? He looks much small than in college and can't be helping him. There's no way college PED testing is less stringent than MMA.

It's obviously meant more for football and basketball, but - politics aside - how do we think this would impact college wrestling? Adds some restrictions on revenue share, NIL opportunity, and ability to transfer. This is bad for elite wrestlers, but good for college wrestling overall. Talent would get spread out across more programs instead of the best wrestlers getting horded at schools with the most NIL and revenue money. There also are provisions to protect Olympic/non-revenue sports from getting cut. Not sure how that will work in operation but should be good for wrestling in theory. Other opinions?

All true. Similar to wrestling, if Illinois could just lock down the Chicago area talent, that would get them most of the way there.

This is what Bielema does everywhere he goes. Overperforms the first couple years, raises expectations, does/says some controversial things, underperforms for a few years, then leaves for another program and nobody's sad when he does. He's a mini version of Lane Kiffin.

I thought he wasn't really serious about football, sort of like a Ben Kueter situation, but my sources say otherwise. Which probably rules out 174 and you may be right about a late start date. Also means he'll be rusty and out-of-shape when he gets around to wrestling.

Should be some good battles at Illinois where Aaron Stewart will challenge Kelly at 174 or Moore at 184.

Why can't he just to back to VTech?

I see lots of guys wearing compression shirts under the singlet and/or compression shorts that go past the knee (e.g. Vince Robinson) or full-length knee sleeves. Same amount of body coverage as the 2-piece or even 2-piece + tights. Maybe this is why there's not a lot of push for the 2-piece anymore.

He's wrestled at 190 but has never weighted that. Not sure he can put on any more weight on a 5'6 frame.

I always presumed this is what the 5th year is for - to absorb those types of cases so case-by-case exceptions and appeals are not necessary. Nobody has said that - it's just my own assumption.
