  1. Of course you're right - beating one phenomenal athlete is exactly the same as beating two.
  2. True. Not a great fact in favor of the B12. Ferrari also didn't compete - for all we know, he may have won B10 now that he's had an initial crack at Starocci and we know he's one takedown away...
  3. Attached is from Matt Valenti. See slide 8. Doesn't reference past NCAA performance. Also doesn't say a 4 timer "doesn't need to be questioned". https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/championships/sports/wrestling/d1/men/2023-24D1MWR_SelectionsProcess.pdf
  4. Not the criteria used though.
  5. There is a formula, but I admittedly also don't know how it works. Tried to read the PowerPoint posted by Valenti on Twitter but I'm too dumb for that. I do know that past championships do not help or Ferrari and Alirez would be seeded higher. All-start match also doesn't count (allegedly). Finally, yes, I do have a tendency to just make stuff up. Starocci-McEnelly semi and Starocci-Keck final would have been better.
  6. Keckeisen won his conference too. He has no control over the difficulty level and that shouldn't be held against him. Speaking of "undisputed" conference difficulty, how many wins does McEnelly (#2 B10) have over Plott (#2B12)?
  7. Dresser is also one of the most colossal s**t-talkers of our generation (and I like that about him). Everything he says needs to be taken with many grains of salt.
  8. They actually are. I run a kids club out of the HS wrestling room and I can't keep them off the damned bikes.
  9. Past seasons are not supposed to be a criteria. Look what happened to Ferrari and Alirez. Though I guess that means Keck's championship last season shouldn't count either? Maybe it all comes down to the Cael/PSU factor.
  10. It's not supposed to count, but apparently it does. Otherwise, Keckeisen's the undefeated returning champ of the weight class. Starocci's the challenger and should be seeded accordingly.
  11. There's also another story circulating that the kid was just sitting on an exercise bike while waiting for weigh-ins. Someone could easily spin that into a claim that they were working out in the weigh-in area. None of us were there, so it's silly for any of us to make proclamations that the rules were broken.
  12. Most people don't realize how tough it is to wrestle without a soul. Only Caliendo understands.
  13. Though that shouldn't be considered stalling, I'm actually OK if that's how it's enforced. At least then there's consistency, referee discretion is limited, and guys are not hit with surprises.
  14. 100% agree. We often see one wrestler pushing out and blocking the other from re-entering the circle in order to solicit a stall call. Which guys is actually stalling in this scenario? Enforcement now seems to be divorced from the intent of the rule, so just curious if refs are given instructions on how to call and whether it's after the first pushout or second.
  15. Then the refs are applying the rule flawlessly.
  16. Seems like all season long, refs would call stalling after one wrestler pushed the other out of bounds 2x in a row. At the ACC tourney, they were calling it after the first pushout. Is there an official rule on this or is it entirely at the referee's discretion?
  17. Apparently you can't weigh in wearing these.
  18. I sure hope not - he's definitely got some skills. Only one in the VTech lineup not to qualify.
  19. TJ Stewart at VTech - ACC champ and AA last season.
  20. Have we had wild cards achieve AA status? Who are some of the best performers in past years?
  21. Although his on-the-mat wrestling style is super boring.
  22. Religion stuff was weird; rest was garden-variety Ferrari talk. Would be an insane interview if it was a normal wrestler, but this is just a typical interview for Ferrari. I must've forgotten that he beat Buchanan and took him down 4x during his title run. Not bad.
  23. Watch the Allen Iverson 30 for 30 on the bowling alley fight incident when he was in HS.
  24. Good for recruiting; bad for development.
  25. In Illinois we've had kids booted from the post-season for things like vaping or bad grades. Crazy that allegedly assaulting someone in the stands gets less punishment.
