Broc Berge started at Iowa and transferred to Minny. Lance Benick started at ASU and transferred to Augsburg. Steveson did not live up to the hype although I’m not sure where he was ranked coming out of high school. He did qualify for NCAA’s once and dealt with some injury problems.
I believe Jake Bergeland was a senior last year when he won the starting spot for the first time and AA’d. But he also got a free Covid year and thus competed this year as well.
He wrestled a kid from SD, Schunke, who is a giant (over 300 during football) at hwt & legit 4 star football recruit who is ranked 4th at HWT and made it look pretty easy.
125 is Drake's spot I would think. He was a stud in his true freshman year and if he did not tear the pec we may have seen him AA. He had wins over Deaugustino, Schroeder, Surtin, Caleb Smith..
Nagao would slide in very nicely for the Hawkeyes to have a 1-2-3 punch of Ayala, Nagao, Woods also. Plus you have Terry there who has consistently put out lightweight talent and shown to be one of, if not the best, lightweight coaches in the country. Not sure how he fits in with Cornell unless him or Vito is moving off of 133. It seems like it will come down to PSU and Iowa for Nagao. I don't think he can really make a wrong choice with PSU's dominance throughout the lineup and Iowa's lightweight dominance.
I’ll take your word for it. I guess I worded that poorly. I think Teemer is a top 2 or 3 guy at 157 with a clear path to a title. I think he’s in the second tier at 165 behind Carr and O’Toole with a lot of other guys. He could finish 3rd or he could be a R12 guy. Griffith and Hamiti wrestled for 5th at this weight class this year. Kennedy, Ramirez, Kharchla, Peyton Hall, Facundo, Hall, etc all got beat out. It’s a deep weight class. I know that Teemer is a stud and I have watched him plenty.
Why? If you lean conservative California would be the threshold of hell. You could not pay me to go live out there. If Koll did not like the political climate at Cornell, surely it’s no better at Stanford.
He was basically saying that he was no more injured than he has been all year. The loss to Ramos was not attributed to some unknown or unforeseen injury that occurred between B10's and nationals. He has been wrestling injured all year (most of his career really) and has not even been able to run or condition due to the short recovery time from a double ACL surgery. The risk/reward analysis for him to wrestle back to 3rd place put more risk on his body than potential reward. Notice him saying that he has not wrestled yet since the NCAA's but would like to wrestle at the US Open. If we see him at the Open, its likely that we see him with no real training whatsoever.
