2026 Big Boarders Remaining
Truzzcat replied to Indiana-Hawk-Wrestling-Fan's topic in High School Wrestling
They don't seem worried about recruiting over guys. I don't want to over react to Coles losses this year given hes a true freshman and pretty undersized, but for a team that's always looking to widen the gap if Mocco seems like he could be better I think they will go for him. -
To me Tayes landing spot is not super impactful to me. He is going into his 7th year I don't have the data, but I would assume 7th year guys do not generally bode very well compared to their historical results. He is also coming off of an injury that required a med shirt. I understand the weight clears out, but I just have a hard time seeing him as a high AA next year.

2026 Big Boarders Remaining
Truzzcat replied to Indiana-Hawk-Wrestling-Fan's topic in High School Wrestling
I think Waters is criminally undervalued that kid is absolutely nails. I would throw PSU in with Mocco because of their potential need at heavy and the American top team connection. -
135 options: Pico Sam krivus was a 3x super 32 champ Blaze Bouzakis Crookham (injured his junior year super 32 champ in 8th grade)
-
Nothing aside from his youth stuff. Being he was at PSU for a decade + I figured rather than saying they are up and coming because they have money, he may say something about the new staff though.

Who are your 2025 tournament dark horses?
Truzzcat replied to CHROMEBIRD's topic in College Wrestling
Mark Anthony Mcgowan is my big one kid was as good of a recruit as there was until he had some injury stuff occur his senior year and then he did not wrestle all of last year and the start of this year. Ty whalen has not quite set the world on fire like he did during his red shirt last year but he has wins over parco and watters in the same tournament if he catches fire like he did at midlands he could find himself high on the podium. Mac stout: Not sure if he qualifies he is pretty highly ranked but I dont see anyone talk about him. He lost pretty badly to Beard but I think Bear has an ability to put it on guys if they dont have a feel for his single. He has not lost in a few months and is one hell of a hand fighter which I think is a great attribute late in grueling tourmanets like this. -
I think Dom munaretto is still floating too he would be a great get for 125 he should make that weight pretty easily for 4 years. Honestly probably needs to focus on growing into it more than anything.
-
I know there is a lot of speculation that they do not get along. Listening to FRL they were talking about how its better when teams are competitive and he mentioned Iowa and Ohio state having young guys but then made the comment "Oklahoma state has a lot of funds coming in" Just thought it was odd he did not say "they have a great coach now" or something along those lines.

RIP seemed like a really great dude and great supporter. Rest easy we will cheer for the orange.

is that who the koontz boys train with now?

to add to the Illinois steam. Jordyn has two age level medals in greco gold and bronze. Thats going to be the best place for him to develop in greco if he wishes to out of the programs mentioned.
-
Was not around/watching wrestling when he was active but watching old tape easily my favorite wrestler to ever do it and the GOAT hands down in my opinion.
-
I believe Saito gave him issues on top this season and then both Cardenas matches but those both have head injury implications.
-
I don't think anybody can go with him on his feet. He hunts reversals and gasses himself on bottom a lot though and his head is always looming. I think he gets a little overly emotional as well. Skill for skill though I think he's better than anyone at 157, maybe anyone in college.
-
Is he really going to want to do another 3 years of school/season especially with his injury history? I thought I heard he was an engineering major, and even if he continues wrestling for a while I think the freestyle circuit and managing himself and his weight would be much easier than the rigor of a full college season.
-
I think the package deal aspect makes them more sought after than any of those guys individually. Say the other 3 win a national title that's what 20 points before bonus? Even if neither of them wins a title if you get a high AA out of both of them you are probably netting more overall points. I think you can potentially bank in more upside for them as well given their current training environment is each other and whenever they can get to Illinois. I think PSU and Okie state are probably out on them just because of lineup issues. They probably project at 133/141 or 141/149 and both of those schools are going to have some serious overlap so I would think Iowa or Illinois are the two likeliest landing spots? Perhaps V-tech or missouri throw their hat in the ring.
-
My sentiment on this is... who cares. Anthony was going to bonus his way to the title, he is going to do incredible things in wrestling in the future this will not define him. It certainly sucks that he can not be the fifth four timer in NJ history but I do not think he would have been remembered for just that anyway.

Things to note: Real lead amouzad at the break with +2kg I think amouzad is the best in the world at 67kg. Real came back to take bronze and frankly looked really good he beat japan for bronze 9-1. Will lewan beats James green. Not great for Green but more so relevant to me because PJ duke has beaten Lewan pretty badly twice now. Chance wins without giving up a point. He did get teched by zahid a few weeks ago, will be interesting if he goes 79 or 86. Snyder loses to Yoshida, only notable to me because yoshida is probably the least credentialed guy he has lost to Zahid teched him at worlds in 2023. However Snyder traveled the day prior and wrestled two days prior I am not entirely concerned I do think given the guys at the weight though Snyder is competing more for bronze now than gold.

Ono - the first time ever that Spencer was overpowered?
Truzzcat replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
I may be miss remembering but I think he walks around at like 63-64kg, I would assume once he gets close to a competition he barely cuts anything for 61kg. -
If You Hate Penn State Do Not Open This Thread

You are an impressive human being. -
Tanabe looked very good at the ranking series. The depth of Japan right now is extremely impressive. Thats a large reason I don't pay much mind to the PSU faithful speculating that Ono will come here. It's likely worse than his current training environment at least for his size.
-
I interpreted his tweet as he will not be competing at all this year maybe not until 2028?
-
Do you think he will stay there if ono drops down? Beating Kiyooka would be a tall task.
