I really think this team could push for somewhere between 4-8 AA's 8 probably being the absolute ceiling and anything less than 4 being really shocking for me Smith,Hardy,Lovett,Pinto seeming very likely and Van Dee, Taylor, Wilson, Allred, McDaniel all having a shot although Wilson and Van dee given their weights would really surprise me.

not a wrestle off thing but I saw on wrestlestat Kale peterson is now at 125 I think that is HUGE for Iowa.
-
Is this the father of the Medlin that just committed to Illinois? I was on a deep dive on Seth Mendoza results and saw he bumped up from 126 to 138 and beat him 4-0 which I thought was pretty insane given he's a national caliber kid.
-
Dustin Plott in a flow interview said, "I've gotten a lot better at wrestling" and that is enough for my blindly optimistic pea brain to decide it's a 3-horse race now.

I think when you account for their Big 10 match Carter beating kem at NCAA's is still by far the biggest obstacle even if Keck were to win at the all-star I think it will be very close where the big 10 finals against Kem honestly was not.

Yianni D on colleges recruiting committed athletes
Truzzcat replied to Interviewed_at_Weehawken's topic in College Wrestling
This seems like a lot to be made about something everyone is aware of. I assume Sergio Vega is the guy thats being contacted hard, he just dominated super 32 and at who's 1 and committed to Cornell pretty early while he was very good but maybe not a household name. It makes sense that now coaches are trying to poach him. It is absolutely slimy but its definitely part of the game at this point and only becomes and issue to me if the kid wants no part of it and the coaches are essentially harassing them. I look at this instance (it could not be Sergio but thats my best guess) as something similar to an Olejnik or even Nasir Bailey this year. Im sure programs wanted them but then they showed they jumped levels and now everyone is banging down the door this time it just happened to occur during the high school season rather than during the collegiate season which I honestly would rather happen if it has to happen. -
The dual we all want to see, but just don't know it yet...

Belton at 133 is giving serious first period national champion vibes. It will be interesting to see if he comes out guns blazing and the tries to sit on leads or if he manages his gas tank. He got tired a lot at 141 so I just see that only getting worse at 133 but his twitchiness coupled with his length at 133 makes him a real real problem. -
not a 2024-2025 issue but this last weekend as Im sure a ton of you saw Asher Cunningham won super 32 and looked pretty damn good doing it. He won the title at 165 I think that there is zero shot he ever sees 165 again I think it was largely a by product of having a single day before competition weigh in at super 32. A good problem but a problem none the less now for psu is you have Ryder,Barr,Mirasola,Duke,Cunningham with 4+ years as of now who will all be on the team by this time next year barring a grey shirt for 165-197 and on top of that you have at least 1 more year of Levi after this year and 2 more years of MM. side bar Cunningham kinda wrestles like hes showing someone technique so I think the bigger he gets the better. when Bambinelli was able to finish fast he was cruising but any prolonged exchange at it was all Cunningham.

Interesting to see Radamacher red shirt coming off a huge summer.

Bo Bassett Narrows His College List..........From 80 to 73
Truzzcat replied to RandolphTJones's topic in College Wrestling
there is a younger forrest that I think is in 7th or 8th grade and they have like 5 kids that will be on their junior/senior high team this year that are from Florida. It will be interesting if 3-4 years of being a national powerhouse attracts enough kids to sustain long term success or not. given the investment to "the compound" training facility and the proximity to young guns I would imagine they will try to keep development going. -
He may not be quite ready for d1 wrestling yet but I see a world where Meza is a better option than terukina as well and while it was in freestyle he does have a career win over Luke lilledahl in the last 16months and hes a lot of peoples pick to win 125. Iowa state feels like they have a path to being a top 3 team but also a fairly low floor but I hope they can put it all together lineup wise.

Bo Bassett Narrows His College List..........From 80 to 73
Truzzcat replied to RandolphTJones's topic in College Wrestling
I think that would be awesome for wrestling, not only do you get Bo but probably Melvin and Bo's younger brother on top of getting Conner harer this year and likely his younger brother who is the same year as Bo and I believe both of those guys will be studs in college. It could turn Rutgers into a power house. -

Greg was more of a guess because he did not look good at all at trials and did that Craig jones invite thing so I was thinking he may go the BJJ/MMA route. Bartlett I think may just be done with wrestling there were rumors he was not going to take his extra year I just think another 4.5 years is unlikely for him unless he really establishes himself as a top 3 guy at 65kg. Alirez mentioned a budding rivalry where he hopes he and woods would fight for a belt in the ufc so I think he has mma aspirations. Henson and Crookham had a lot to do with them both being very young still so I expect more growth and I see them both at 61kg and 70kg respectfully. Two weights that feel like could have a lot of guys moving on over the next cycle. 70 having a final of Pantaleo and green who I don't think have much left in the tank and 61 being Blaze vs Daton the former I see growing out of the weight pretty soon and I would not be shocked to see Vito going all in on 65kg in a year or two with Yianni apparently moving up to 70 and then 74. I don't think SVN makes two teams I just don't think his body will allow him to wrestling for essentially 6-7 more years given the 4.5 years after college but if everything went right for him I believe he has the ability to. -

was going to mention the svn injuries and that he does not really have a weight to wrestle I think 149 is legitimately his optimal weight but I did not want to offend anyone. -

lose to MMA or other career before 4.5 years: -Carter -AJ -Alirez -Greg -Bartlett -PK (Ben seems to think he's going to go straight into coaching) wont make 1.5 world teams: -Plott -Buchanan -Ayala -Teemer -Figs Guys that could fit Both criteria: -Meyer -MM (lock imo) -Levi -Jesse -Crookham -SVN -Henson -Hendrickson -KOT -
Hilton,Burton,Correa scratching and Duke,Blaze,Lockett not being there takes a bit of steam out of the tournament for me. That being said its still my second favorite high school tournament of the year. one of the weights that stands out to me right away is 125. Dillard is coming off of a cadet bronze, Botero has a stop sign, I am not convinced Joey Bachmann has ever lost a folkstyle match in greensboro but I may pick him to not place top 5 in this field. Castillo is back down to 120 after being 126 for quite some time and is probably my pick at the weight I just think hes far in away the best guy on his feet but I think his toughest match will come in the semi against not Bachmann but Grey Burnett. outside of 120 the lower weights do not excite me a ton I expect them to be pretty chalk I do think Nate Desmond will give Knox a bout at 126. As for 132 I wish Jax was up at 138 so we could get the vega again now that Vega has jumped levels (jax teched him at cadet trials in 21 or 22). As for 144 I am pulling for Olivarez vs Bassett that matchup intrigues me a bit more I think Olivarez can handle that hand fight I was holding out hope we would somehow get a late Marcus Blaze at 144 entry but ill hold out hope for ironman. Ive got sonny amato over magro at 150 in the finals thats probably my most off the board final. at 157 Melvin Vs Rath is super fun, I think Melvin may need to add in an outside step or some sort of straight on shot. Robideau shut down his ability to create angles and that really stifled what is an otherwise very prolific offense. 165 is the last weight that really excites me and 3 weeks ago I would have picked Cunningham, but Bambinelli put it on him at elite 8 duals and Torres showed out up a weight at journeyman. I think Torres is my pick I just really like his neutral game.

the Ruiz mention also made me think of Mark Anthony Mcgowan who is also coming off of a grey shirt for Princeton.
-
Burroughs kept DT,Dake,Ringer,Imar,Howe all off teams until 2021 aside from guys moving up and that alone makes him the american goat imo. Davids's peak was as good or better than anyone's though.
-
Lilledahl (could win natty) Davino (if he goes) (would not be shocked if he was in the finals) Joey Blaze Beau Man Larkin Rune Lawrence (if he goes) Aden Valencia Lorenzo Norman Ty Whalen (could win natty) Troy Spratley (not a darkhorse to AA but maybe a darkhorse to win the title added RBY,Gillman,Kennedy,DT to that room) Matthew Singleton (I think he finishes top 5)
-
Kyler Larkin appears to be grey shirting like his brother did. Do not see him on the ASU roster.
-
The guys on FRL brought up the potential of Devino going right away at 133. I had not really thought about it but given they are in the trophy hunt if they feel he is an improvement over bouzakis it would make sense to have him go. I will be very interested to see the results of that wrestle off.

Penn State lineup projection w/ Facundo

I believe Duke Is KD trained through and through I know he went to the same high school as Ryder but I don't know that they trained at the same places. KD also trains Jayden James. -

Looks like the last time he was below 160 was his 2017-2018 high school season. -
More than likely too old for cadets which I do not care about. The entire thing was brought up because someone mentioned that hes only 28 so probably has a good deal of tread left on the tires. That statement if true means he could potentially push for medveds record. However if he is 30 like some documentation has shown that becomes a much taller task.
