Lock Haven endows program thanks to $3.5MM gift
Truzzcat replied to 1032004's topic in College Wrestling
Really hoping this allows them to at least compete with Pitt and maybe lehigh for in state recruits. They do a great job developing. -
I think because the hodge is seemingly more subjective than seeding, it would be hard for the voters to overlook that all-star result. Despite it not going on their official records it was a folkstyle match that happened after the season started.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought past accolades were removed from the hodge criteria? Jesse having the close one with Vombaur definitely dings him but if he wins 141 it will be hard to argue with that strength of schedule at least in my opinion if he puts up above an 80% bonus rate. Mitchell is going to be the most dominant guy besides Gable but is probably also at arguably the weakest weight in the country. If gable were to bonus Kerk at big 10's or NCAA's he would be my odds-on favorite. Carter beating Pk with a 90% bonus rate will also be a great resume. Gable Carter MM Jesse Thats the order I would go with, but I think all have certain arguments going in their favor. Darkhorse Wyatt if he somehow won heavy.

I would be really shocked if we do not see Duke for two years. I honestly feel like if he goes that route we may just not see him in college. In 2 years, we would be 1 year out from the Olympics and by that time I think he could realistically be a top 5 guy at 74kg (Carr,Mitchell,Lockett,Shaprio,Duke?). He also has a pretty extensive injury history so essentially 6 years of college may not appeal to him or be good for him. He's a guy you keep at all costs so I would look at maybe a Messenbrink bump to 174 and just a single red shirt for duke, Levi would be gone at that point and despite Messenbrink being small for 174 I think he would likely still kill everyone. After NCAA's this year I think will be very telling, Im sure all these guys have the mindset they are the best or will be the best, but the reality of the situation has to set in at some point. Another thing I point to that makes me think we do not see a greyshirt is that this logjam was apparent prior to the season, and they still have Sealey on the roster. To me he would have been a prime candidate to grey shirt.

Luke finishes fast which is bad news for McCrone because his neutral offense is predicated on counter points from prolonged scrambles. If he can extend Lukes's leg attacks though he is really tricky. Most likely outcome is Luke snags one or two takedowns in the first and does not even have to go under Mccrone unless McCrone picks top. I would just like to see him tested underneath.

off the top of my head Ventresca Renteria Meza Flynn Peterson He definitely has times where he's looking for turns and times where he is going cross body looking to ride. I think a lot of those matches where he goes top and just rides out for the loss though part of the issue is the guys on bottom just trying to not give up stalls rather than actually trying to get away.

If we are just throwing out best wrestlers in totality, I think Blaze and Lilledahl deserve shouts Blaze 190-2 as of now never given up a takedown in season. OTT 3rd, WTT 2nd, 2x ironman champ, Cadet gold, Junior bronze. Lilledahl something and 3 2x ironman champ, 4x age level finalist 2x gold 2x silver, 2x super 32 champ in two attempts As for just in school season goes Aaron seidel is 193-3 3x state champ the PA wins record is 199 he has sectionals, districs, regionals, states left so he likely sets a new record that may be untouchable. the previous record held by Zack kemerer has stood for 18 years.
-
Pico has to be up there to me. I believe his only loss was to Heil as a freshman at super 32 I think he had graduated when he was a match from making the olympic team and beat Humphry and JO. He did have two series wins over Zain though while still in high school I believe and two junior medals at the toughest weight generally.

Connor mirasola: If Barr goes 184 he slots in at 197 but then Ryder does not have a spot next year and unless he can get down to 174 in 2 year maybe never? Zack Ryder: See above. Joe Sealey: Do not see how he fits in next year and then you have PJ duke coming in who I see as a 165 so does Sealey try to get up to 174? Seems like he may be small for that weight and you will have Henckel and Cunningham looming. I think all of these guys are in a place where they are almost certainly going to lose a year if not more I really wonder if they choose to stick it out or go somewhere else. Obviously its not really a hit for PSU because they will be putting their best guys out there its just an embarrassment of riches but could it help other teams get closer. Also if Connor were to leave would Cole go with him or would they split up? I lean that they all stay PSU just does not really lose guys but it's a bit crazy to think guys of this caliber may only have 2-3 years in the lineup.

Hope it was more precautionary, and Kasak is good to go. Head injuries are always scary but would hate for him to be limited going into big 10's.

Bo, Blaze, Jax - who has the best college career?
Truzzcat replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Ed Scott has never wrestled less than 157lbs in college I think that’s what he was getting at blaze beat markel baker,Forrest,Ramos maybe Cael nasdeo if my memory serves me right. blaze I think is the best high school wrestler ever to date maybe aside from pico? His peers have done as impressive things as his clarion open run though Blaze himself has done more impressive things since then. -
no his birthdays in August hes 19 uww age if he was born in January he would still be 18 on their website I believe he confirmed his birthday was August 4th 2006.
-
He would need to get a takedown early and put on a ride I don't even think he could try and sting him in the third he would just be too tired at that point and likely have gotten hit for stalling like 3 times. Hamiti kinda put out the blueprint (much easier said then done) he gassed in doing so Carr was able to do it but it got really dicey.
-
I think the Raneys being a package now that we have seen Forrest and Bassett are not would be the most valuable piece from this class. you are getting two guys that I think can push for titles but have a floor of probably 6 combined AA's. Iowa has a track record with twins including twin coaches so that may appeal.

the 2024 and 2025 classes for psu I think have the ability to go down as one of the best 2 year stretches ever.
-
I have heard people that are skeptical of Zare's ability to win when it really counts.
-
@Irani is the sentiment In Iran that they still want Zare as the guy or are people calling for Masoumi?
-
I'm not sure if Bartlett is going to continue wrestling, he seemed on the fence about even coming back to college this year I think he has business aspirations. If he keeps wrestling though he's definitely ahead of Bo until proven otherwise.
-
Seems like Yianni is moving up and Nick lee is done? Kaleb larkin likely never sees that weight again too so we have Jesse,Alirez,Mckenna and maybe Bassett is fourth in line at this point?
-
went there before trials!!
