So the brutal part is that redshirt year teaches you how to get out. But by RS senior year your body is either completely beat up or you are in full prime, no in between. It's a miserable conundrum. Baseball typically avoids redshirts and I am inclined to follow that suit for high level kids but anything less than absolute blue chip says otherwise. Look at Gabe Arnold today as a prime example of someone who is very fundamentally sound and beats B1G competition as a RS frosh but is still unlikely to "only" make it past R16/R12.
