Can't explain why, but Rutgers is taking 3 weeks off between its last dual and B1Gs.

99% of the time, replay decisions shut up the dissenters. 5 minutes is far too much time for wrestling. Football, maybe given the number of camera angles.

Watch for random weight assignment with a loaded backend.

What top wrestlers left eligibility on the table?.
RYou replied to Threadkilla's topic in College Wrestling
133: Sebastian Rivera: 1 seed, 13-2, never won a title Sebass went on to wrestle 2 more years for Rutgers. 2022 All-American and NCAA Bronze Medalist 2021 Finished fourth at 141 pounds at the Championships. Initially, the NCAA did not award the extra year for winter sports. Eventually, the NCAA changed the guideline for students that had registered for the fall 2020 term, but it didn't make the offer until October 2020 and after the registration period for the fall term had closed for all schools. The crime in all of this, those seniors that missed out on their final NCAA tournament were screwed while the incoming 2020 freshman were offered an extra 5th year without having lost a year. -
Who on this board was the worst wrestler?
RYou replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
My second bout as a freshman was a doozy. We both shot low. His head smashed into my knee and fractured my kneecap which shredded a bunch of ligaments. My knee split his forehead open from the bridge of his nose to the top of his forehead. It's the only time I've seen or heard of both wrestlers being hauled off the mat on stretchers and off to the hospital. He went in for surgery immediately. My doc couldn't do anything until the following day. Suffice to say that ended my season with a 12' inch slice in my leg. I had intended to come back the next season. but my knee was still pretty wobbly. I played football that fall with an articulated knee brace that ran mid thigh to mid calf. It kills your 40 yard sprint times. The docs wouldn't let me wrestle without it, and the coaches wouldn't let me wrestle with it since it was a steel brace. It also killed my tennis game. I spent another year rehabbing it in the weight room and was able to play football without it. I planned to return to wrestling. Now I was up to 170 and it put me smack in the middle of 2 buddies and returning state placers. an 0-2 record and facing 2 top notch wrestlers kind of steered me time back onto the tennis court. I ran my tennis record up to 18-0 near the end of the season, then it happened. I moved laterally to return a cross court shot and my sneaker got hung up on the court surface and the force on my knee ended up retearing the MCL. Season done. Tennis career done. In football I had taken all sorts of hits with no problems, not even an ache, then a sneaker and a tennis court do me in. Not one to totally give up, my senior year I found baseball wasn't as stressful on the knees so I spent my senior season at second base, batted .380 and helped the team to the state championship. I don't watch baseball and tennis on the tube, but I will watch any NCAA wrestling and football event even if it's a rerun in July. -
35 countries demand ban of Russia at the 2024 Olympics
RYou replied to BaldAt23's topic in International Wrestling
They will likely prohibit a team medal count, the Russian flag and anthem, and relegate gold medals to the IOC flag with an inconsequential tune......if the athletes get lucky. -
Televised on C-SPAN but I think it's a CBS copy.

The federal SSI account was well funded back in the 60's but Johnson needed cash to expand the Vietnam war. He proceeded to unlock the SSA safe and transfer the entire fund to the general treasury where it sits today.

What if colleges could only use home state athletes?
RYou replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Don't be naive, most if not all top tier schools work with out of state student athletes to establish in state residency from the day they register. Out of staters pay a much higher tuition than in state public U tuition. The sooner they get the student to establish in state residency, the lower the tuition and, hence; scholarship value assessed against the ADs wrestling budget. The wrestling coaches are handicapped by their AD budget, so a lower scholi value stretches those budgets little further. Scholi value was one of the reasons Stanford went with significantly less than 9.9 scholarship allocation for so long. Many states only require 1 year of residency before the student can declare for in state tuition. You would encounter a legal battle over a 2 year restriction. Private U's would strenuously object as such a requirement opposes the university mission to maintain a geographically diverse student population. In state / out of state tuition is not an issue. It's an interesting thought, sorry to pin prick your bubble. -
It's truly crazy that Penn State is not seen as vulnerable

2022 B1G championship -
He entered the NCAA tournament at 167 with an 8-9 record. He opened the tournament with a 12-2 win over the No.2 seed Chad Renner, Oregon State. He then beat unseeded Jim Brasco, Duquesne, 8-5. His Q final win was against No.7 Chris Studer Boston University. In his semi, he beat Jason Leonard, Oklahoma, the 6 seed, 9-2, who had beaten No.3, Ray Brinzer, Iowa. (Leonard had pinned Branch at the Big 8 tournament) In the championship bout he eked out his title 4-2 over unseeded Laszlo Molnar, Cal State Fullerton. Molnar had beaten the No. 5, and No.4 seed Rick Hepp, Lehigh 93/94 losses to NCAA qualifiers/seeds Parker, Oklahoma State DNQ Fry, Missouri No. 1 Nelson, Nebraska DNQ Mollica, Arizona State DNQ Brinzer, Iowa No.3 Taylor, Minnesota DNQ Nerem, Iowa DNQ Leonard, Oklahoma No. 6 (Big 8 tournament) (Per WrestlingStats, Branch entered the NCAA tournament with a 9-8. Since it is well documented it was actually 8-9, it can be presumed there is a typo "W" for one of his "L"s on his personal page)

While the kids were in grammar school, we moved to a town that was consistently ranked in the top ten in the state, and No.1 a couple recent years. Almost all of the wrestlers 140 and up were crossovers to football. It consistently produced state champs and placers but were mediocre in football. Then when the eldest was in 8th grade the HS hired a new football coach and staff. Just before wrestling practice was to begin, the football coach gave an ultimatum, forget about wrestling, basketball baseball and lacrosse; if you want to start next fall you have to be in the weight room during winter and spring. It devastated the wrestling team turnout. Almost allk were kids that had spent years in the town youth wrestling program and would have been future placers and some champs. The wrestling staff which included a state and USA hall of fame coach complained to the AD. He did nothing. We even contacted NFL players and college football coaches and asked them to call or write letters to the AD about the benefits of wrestling had on their football careers. The AD ignored all of it. At the end of the season, the wrestling coaching staff resigned after leading the program for 20 years. It killed the wrestling program. Word spread and the participation in the youth program started falling since that HoF coach was no longer running the program. It's been 30 years now and it still hasn't recovered even though that football coach is long gone. Side story....that football coach, now there about 10 years..... was out jogging after school one winter evening and UPS van driver didn't see him, backed up and road over him. Busted up his hip and one leg pretty good. He never returned to the school. The replacement coach had an entirely opposite philosophy and encouraged the FBs to wrestle and play other sports.

Oh, it's that other OSU.

It's becoming less rare with scholis supported with NIL cash. While commonplace in FB and BB, wrestling NIL cash of substance is still pretty rare. Some schools have targeted wrestling for cash awards. PSU / RBY comes to mind. Walked onto a boatload to cover the cost of his grad classes and then some. I don't think he needed any scholi money from Sanderson to come back this year.

New York is raising the cigar tax to 95%. The tax for recreational MJ is only 13%. What message are they sending?....and they aren't even Cubans. -
No mention about the reason he was initially pulled over and dragged out of the vehicle. Mistaken identity ?

Rutgers did that. It's no guaranty.

The Rec Hall capacity is 6400. PSU pulled 16000 v Iowa. A single match ticket at Rec Hall will run you about $50. The gate for PSU at BJC was +2.5 times the revenue of a Rec Hall dual. Add in the increased revenue for concessions. More importantly, there were 10000 more fans there in person that otherwise would have been relegated to BTN.

True and neither team suffered an upset loss. Columbia has Cornell tomorrow. Lehigh lost to Cornell by a single.

I'd hazard a guess he entered military service which qualifies for waiver on your eligibility clock. Lots were volunteering for military services to avoid being drafted into the Army. ....and there were those that enlisted in the Army.
