Including lots of fighting between Willie Saylor and Bob Nichols (who apparently one of the biggest donors to the Hawkeye program and namesake of the new Nicolls Wrestling Room: Apparently Bob is the one who "persuaded" the Brands to go after the Ferraris and continues to do so. I know many Hawks fans think the Brands screwed up in losing Chittum but let's lay out the facts: 1. 2 or 3 Ferraris > 1 Chittum 2. Chittum has committed to 3 schools before ever donning a college singlet. Odds are he switches again. 3. Chittum will be 21 (or older) by the time he wrestles in his first NCAAs. His upside is limited. 4. Angelo and Anthony Ferrari have higher upside than Chittum. 5. AJ is just icing on the cake - he is immediately the title favorite at 197, yes even over Aaron Brooks. People are being short sighted in only focusing on losing Chittum (which could have happened anyway). Once 2 or 3 Ferraris are in the Carver-Hawkeye garage this move by the Brands will be praised as GENIUS.

How is ISU better than Iowa in any sense relevant to wrestling?

From my source it's 2 non-starter wrestlers on the Hawkeye team. I think they get suspended a semester and are allowed to rejoin in the spring. It will have zero impact on the Hawkeyes dual or tournament performances. For the record, I think students should be allowed to gamble freely provided they are of age and they aren't wagering against themselves in games they actually participate in. Problems only arise if athletes wager against themselves since they can throw a game. Betting on yourself to win poses no conflicts.

There's a decent chance both are at 174 pounds next year. I think Arnold, who recently won U20s at the US Open could actually beat Starocci. He's got the short stocky powerful build which has been known to give Starocci problems in the past. And he's an Iowa Hawkeye. Starocci only has a few losses in his career and most are to Iowa guys.
