  1. NIL doesn’t come from the program itself. It’s from boosters. Like Bob Nichols who funds Iowa’s transfers.
  2. Ayala is a finalist and Ono has never wrestled folkstyle before I had a typo. 174 would either be Haines or Welsh
  3. It's not guaranteed or even likely, but they conceivably could win. 125 Volk is huge for the weight and could upset LL like Seymour did 133 Ayala is a favorite over whoever PSU puts out here 141 Bailey is a favorite over whoever PSU puts out here (even if it's Blaze) 149 SVN is a favorite over Williams 157 Kasak is favorite over McNeil 165 MM is a favorite over Caliendo but it's close 174 tossup (Arnold/Kennedy vs Welsh/Arnold 184 Ferrari is a favorite over Ryder 197 tossup (Ferrari vs Barr) HWT Keuter is a favorite over Mirasola
  4. This relies heavily on the transfer portal, which has been Iowa's MO the last few years. 125 Volk (transfer) 133 Ayala 141 Bailey (transfer) 149 Williams (transfer) 157 McNeil (transfer) 165 Caliendo (transfer) 174 Arnold / Kennedy 184 Ferrari 197 Ferrari (transfer) HWT Keuter
  5. To answer my own question it seems like he's already practicing MMA https://pennstatewrestlingclub.org/greg-kerkvliet-wrestling-and-beyond/
  6. I'm not sure he has interest in MMA, but he certainly has intriguing physical tools to be a heavyweight MMA fighter. Big without being overly bulky, long arms. Not sure if he has the killer instinct to be a fighter though. Then again, I don't think I ever thought Nickal had that either and he seems to be dong really well.
  7. I think AJ's always been religious. The only thing that's changed recently is he no longer believes that he's God.
  8. Penn State has 6 guys in the portal currently (all backups) and nobody is freaking out about it.
  9. I thought he was long rumored to be going to Iowa to man 197.
  10. Well 4 of the confirmed 5 aren't even starters...so that's not necessarily a big deal. But Feldman and Bouzakis would be.
  11. Half the team? Who else is in the portal aside from Welsh?
  12. This is overly harsh. Tom Ryan is a great coach who has dealt with immense personal tragedy and handled it with grace.
  13. As a PSU fan (and double alum) I am loving the domination by Penn State over the last decade and change, however I can’t help but wonder if Cael’s unadulterated greed with stockpiling or poaching talent will ultimately be his downfall. Is he alienating recruits and creating a ruthless reputation as someone who is always looking for the next best thing? I can only imagine the insecurity his current roster is feeling in the wake of these recent portal bombs. Again I’m not saying I dislike this action, but I fear it’s going to bite Cael in the butt someday soon.
  14. Suriano is probably the most accomplished transfer out of PSU (and Rutgers)
  15. I would rather Haines redshirt. Ryder is too good to waste a year.
  16. Unless Haines is going to redshirt. Zach Ryder is very good and is a capable starter. Unless Welsh mans 174, Ryder 184 and Haines takes a RS this move doesn’t work.
  17. I thought of this because I was reading Michael Kemerer's bio and it prominently mentions he is a 5x All-American.
  18. Screams Iowa to me They need a 141 and 149 pounder
  19. I bet you will be happy if they join the Hawkeyes...
  20. Some wrestlers and some fans say it is "obvious" certain wrestlers are using steroids. If it is really so clear cut and there is hard evidence (beyond the fact that a wrestler has acne on his face or went up a weight class or two) what is stopping athletes, schools or even fans from taking action an notifying the NCAA and insisting they launch an investigation? This is a honest question. Some claim it's a "slam dunk" type of case, and if so, you would think we would see dozens of investigations with many athletes being punished.
