  1. Does Iowa have high admission standards? Can't imagine it being any tougher than Oklahoma State.
  2. Did AJ already committ [sic] to Iowa?
  3. Very tough lineup. Could win it all over Penn State with the right draw.
  4. His daddy explained the situation in full in a videotaped interview following his withdrawal from the US Open
  5. Until recently Steveson was WWE only...
  6. He's currently the most famous and relevant US wrestler.
  7. Assuming both are healthy who wins in folkstyle, who wins in freestyle? Many assumed Spencer would beat RBY in folkstyle and after seeing Vito dismantle RBY that may be true.
  8. Exactly. Spencer actually said he thinks folkstyle sucks...yet he sacrificed his body wrestling folkstyle for the Hawkeyes and now he may never win a freestyle Olympic or World medal.
  9. And people want college to switch to freestyle… A dual meet could be over in 15 minutes if all it takes is 1 takedown and 4 leg laces to end a match.
  10. Have to think if he went to Penn State hen would have won a NCAA title
  11. 6 US open finalists either wrestled for Penn State or NLWC at some point: Suriano, Nick Lee, Nolf, Joseph, Brooks and Gwiz 3/3 NLWC members won in the finals. 5 other NLWC and former Penn Staters placed. Bartlett took 4th at 65 kg. Former Penn Stater Verkleeren took 6th at 70 kg. Starocci forfeited to 6th at 79 kg. Former Penn Stater Mark Hall took 3rd at 86 kg. Morgan Mcintosh injury defaulted to 6th at 92 kg. Iowa/HWC only had 1 US open finalist in Desanto and he lost 10-0 to Vito 4 other Iowa/HWC placed. Spencer Lee forfeited to take 6th at 57 kg. Eierman took 7th at 70 kg. Marinelli took 4th at 79 kg. Kemerer took 5th at 79 kg.
  12. Starocci has MFF out of the US Open. Sounds like the injury is serious.
  13. There are notable differences in training philosophies between Iowa and other programs. Take a look at HR and you'll see many Iowa fans talking about how injuries seem to hit them more than other teams. It's not just a Spencer issue...many star Hawkeyes have struggled to stay healthy throughout a season and there's a reason for that.
  14. Bump - Larry Lee's recent comments reinforce my belief that Spencer has sacrificed his dreams of Olympic Gold for the Hawkeyes. The man is a martyr.
  15. Took an Alex Dierenger double to the knee and looked badly hurt. He finished the match but it looked bad...
  16. Does this hurt Spencer’s chance at Olympic gold in 2024?
  17. Shane Griffith 165 Chris Cannon 133 Michael DeAugustino 125 Who else am I missing?
  18. The Nagao of last year didn't. He needs to improve his neutral game and also his turning game from top. Luckily he's chosen a pretty good place to hone those skills and a coaching staff with a half decent track record of guiding guys to NCAA titles.
  19. It seems crazy to ask given that Penn State has landed the 3 hottest transfers this year in Nagao, Mesenbrink and Truax...but the reality is 125 has been a hole for Penn State since Suriano left. Robbie Howard is a great blue chip talent but he's had chronic shoulder injuries since he set foot on campus. Behind Howard Penn State only has Gary Steen who is something like 3-13 in regular season duals. It is not a good bet that Howard will stay healthy through a full season. I would want Penn State to look for a transfer like Michael DeAugustino who could either take the starting job outright or serve as a backup if/when Howard injures his shoulder again.
  20. I wouldn't count on Howard making AA...super dependent on whether his shoulder can even hold up through the regular season. 165 is also a big question mark.
