  1. TD in SV!!! 4-1!!! Marcus Blaze - HS kid beats #1 college ranked kid. Wow!!! Ever heard of such a a thing??
  2. So, while the setup of this thread is stupid and speaks to antitroll’s actual troll character …. I will say that Yianni is an incredible scrambler and fun to watch, but he isn’t so good that he should rely on that and he doesn’t have the tool box that some other guys have. Wish he would learn some more technique. He is not #1 in US now and I had been hoping (not sure I can say expecting and I never predicted) he would create some separation from the US field by now. May the best wrestler win the spot for the Olympics … and get us qualified!!
  3. Wow. Go Navy! Looks like Ruth was taken to SV by someone I haven’t heard of. Hmmm.
  4. Ok … please find one shred of proof that he was talked about as the next Burroughs or Snyder. That is complete BS. You are trying to build a straw man that will allow you to look cool tearing down. Pathetic. Yes, many thought he was the best chance to medal at 65. A brutal weight class. He actually did medal at 65.
  5. So clearly an admitted hater. At least you are clear about it.
  6. Thanks for this too! What about looking at those ranked mid pack on the board? How many by team and how many AA’d?
  7. @Wrestleknownothing - great stuff. Real value add. Thank you. Have you done this analysis at the team level to help bring data to the ‘good vs bad at development’ question? I see a version of it in another thread. Focus was top 20 wrestlers. Curious to see you blow it out. For example - team had X number of 50 to 100 ranked guys and this is how many of them AA’d. Thanks again.
  8. Anyone have a video of Nahshon’s loss by fall?
  9. Just want to give some props to our host. Team has been pumping out content. Decided to pay up for a year and check it out. Not disappointed. Keep it up boys!
  10. No 2020! How could I forget. Thanks for all the work here. Very cool.
  11. Well, then that is 11 years. Please remove 2013.
  12. The middle of campus is freaking beautiful. Middle of nowhere? I have a different definition for that.
  13. Lehigh wrestling has a great history. For me a good reputation. But I’m feeling like they aren’t landing big enough fish. What is the “vibe” at the high school level? How are the recruits thinking of them?
  14. Looks like Ohio State is clearly top 5 … strong case for 3. And yes OKState … I do admit to a recency bias! Data tells a story that I didn’t recall. All good. For past 10 yrs strong case for top 5 even if have slipped. Michigan on the other hand seems to have good momentum. Cornell and Mizzou … also options for top 5.
  15. JB - open to people’s best thinking. Chart above looking like a good approach.
  16. Clearly Penn State is #1. I’m pretty confident Iowa is #2 but someone can prove me wrong. Who would round out the top 5? I’ll call these the upper echelon of D1 wrestling now.
  17. You are probably right. I’ll pretend like I have an actual drum to beat - makes me feel better.
  18. As I mentioned, piloting makes sense. But more for working out kinks. Regarding the data … the pilot would need to be very robust and long lasting to show impacts on behavior changes. Hard to do for one region and not do for others. Thoughts on how the pilot would work? Feel other changes to rules also require piloting and data collection and evaluation? Has this been done for other wrestling (or other sport) rule changes? When NFL puts in more rules with aim of reducing injuries to quarterbacks is there a detailed pilot with extensive data collection?
  19. Piloting would need to be the way. Clearly some challenges to be worked through. I’d like to see the sport give it a try. And to the person that is demanding evidence of success of the change before trying the change … great logic. Tell that to all inventors, explorers, the founding fathers, etc. Sometimes good ideas and the people that support them rely on logic and solid hypothesis to give something a try — even when lacking in data saying it will clearly work.
  20. Tough bout. 5-4 Brooks win. Had a caution against him at end for not engaging hard enough. 2 TDs by Brooks, one for Bagaev.
  21. And what I’m guessing is traditional folk dancing. looks similar to India culture dancing as well - at least for the women.
  22. And ballet!!
  23. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albania–Iran_relations Learned something new
  24. I’m open to approaches for a tourney. I think another weigh in for placement matches makes sense. For 2 day tourneys - You tell me how it could best work. I bet you can come up with some pretty good ideas. These logistic quibbles are just that, quibbles. Not breaking any laws of physics. This can be done.
  25. If this is the best argument against, all good.
