  2. Do the add placement controls not work, or are they not being used? https://business.twitter.com/en/blog/adjacency-controls-third-party-measurement.html
  3. Are you looking at Musk or at the ad placement or both?
  4. This thought exercise has me newly understanding why the government holds citizens accountable for reporting high crimes.
  5. I support the father in this story. What would the father do to the clergyman if the knowing clergyman didn't report the abuse, and the abuse had continued?
  6. Ethical nuance leads to 'the clergyman should not be protected.' Should all citizens, because of ethics, report child abuse? Are there situations where a citizen would not report child abuse because of ethics? For example, a rarely intoxicated father abuses his daughter in a one-time abuse scenario. The father's track record bears financial responsibility and good ethics... The father confesses his crime to the clergyman. As a trusted confidant, the clergyman should encourage the father to seek professional help for rehabilitation. At the same time, the clergyman should facilitate open communication within the family. A collaborative decision involving the spouse and, if appropriate, professionals can guide the family toward a resolution that prioritizes the safety and well-being of all involved. This resolution should not automatically require informing legal, and the clergyman should be protected. But what if the father's job involves time with other children (Teacher, Coach, Counselor, Priest, etc.)? All parents of other children should be informed. The father would lose his job. But what if the father gets another job with different children, given his clean background check? Absurd. Getting the incident on his police record is important to protect children. So, the clergyman should not be protected. Twist the earlier story such that the clergyman does not facilitate open communication with the family, and keeps the secret. The daughter reports the story to her mother. Mother confronts father. Father reveals he confessed to the clergyman. Mom is angry at the clergyman. The clergyman should not be protected because he didn't protect the well-being of a child who was unable to protect herself. Twist the story such that the household only includes the dad and daughter. The clergyman should not be protected because he didn't protect the well-being of a child who was unable to protect herself.
  7. The government should not have the right to hold citizens accountable for reporting crimes. But it does. All States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Virgin Islands have statutes identifying persons who are required to report child maltreatment under specific circumstances. https://www.childwelfare.gov/pubpdfs/mandaall.pdf My gut says that clergy-penitent privilege (and attorney-client privilege) should not be protected.
  8. Cael lost to these guys around high school age and perhaps more before college. Small list. Tom Meacham BYU Joe Heskett Iowa State 4xAA, National Champ Brian Burrows Oklahoma State, Prison David Kjeldgaard Oklahoma, Injured In the '90s, appearing in Sports Illustrated and Wrestling magazines was good publicity. While Cael was as good if not better than his brothers, I don't see how anyone could know he'd be a generational recruit.
  9. Cael and Cole won their way to the 55kg World Team Trials (15/16y) in Greco and refused to wrestle each other.

  11. With Fulton County... how could it go any other way.
  12. What a quagmire. When the IDF hits Hamas, civilians often get caught up, and more people support Hamas. When the IDF leaves Hamas alone, there's a security risk for Israel. Moving or clearing out all Gazans is a messy solution and an ethical nightmare. It's easy to make things worse no matter what the IDF does. I'd say they should go old school and have some elites intermarry... but Israel doesn't grant citizenship to Palestinians who marry in... to prevent a return from 'creeping in.'
  13. @Offthemat @uncle bernard That video was very informative about how complex it is for the IDF to combat Hamas with the awareness of citizens.
  14. I am sorry for the news. I played Monopoly and had a good chat with the kids last night to enjoy life.

  16. JRoss for president. Hello citizens, Thank you for your time. It is an honor to stand before you, united in our shared pursuit of a stronger nation. Together, we will cut through bureaucracy, prioritize your needs, and build a government that reflects the values of its people. When I leave office, measure our success by tangible impact. Ask: Has political corruption been reduced? My administration will tirelessly work to root out corruption at every level of government. I believe in accountability and transparency; we will hold ourselves to the highest standards even when it hurts. Initiatives: term limits, lobbying restrictions, stock restrictions, election holidays, modernized secure elections, bill/pork restrictions, audits, budget approval before spending, a balanced budget... Does the government uphold the same standards it holds the people to? The government should be a reflection of the people it serves. We will strive for a government that practices what it preaches, ensuring fairness, equality, and justice for all citizens. Initiatives: budget approval before spending, a balanced budget, saving and investing, reducing debt, using the best deal, negotiating, audits... Are citizens healthier than they were four years ago? Your health is of paramount importance to your well-being, your finances, and your country. We will invest in public health initiatives, ensuring access to quality healthcare for every citizen, and working towards a healthier, more resilient population. Initiatives: a citizen tax break for low BMI/body fat/exercise, unhealthy food tax penalty, public awareness campaign, health care price transparency, health care competitions, public gym access/training, subsidized public health care services, rewards of health care services, corporate tax incentives, smaller plates, America first Is citizen purchase power better than today? Individuals should be able to buy more goods and services with the same income over time. Initiatives: tax incentives for completing free financial education on budget, saving, investing, negotiation, debt reduction..., inflation plan, wages plan, profit cap plan, profit sharing plan, balanced federal budget, America first... Now, there is more that we'll do, and we will take a moderate approach with compromise. Practical solutions for practical people. We'll get it done by focusing more on doing less and streamlining government operations for efficiency and effectiveness. Quality over quantity; results over rhetoric. Let's deliver a future where the government serves the people rather than those serving the establishment. Together, we can make America work for everyone, not just the few. #PeopleFirst #AmericaFirst
  17. I play in a competitive senior baseball league against men between 45 to 55 years old. The coaches scout the competition. The coaches talk to the umpire for 10 minutes before the game about who can be a courtesy runner, subs, etc. The teams call-out catcher signs from second base. During gameplay, the coaches call the local league commissioner for rulings on the field. The teams write emails to the MSBL headquarters in New York. All of this occurs regardless of who is winning or losing. Only pride is at stake in my games... rather than millions (Michigan) riding on the outcome. People hate losing... and hate losing even more when their livelihood depends on it.
  18. Trump is the party of populism and anti-establishment. Ordinary people were sure the system was not working for them. Trump acknowledged himself as elite and pinpointed how the hypocritical Rs and Ds enabled it. Trump promised to 'drain the swamp' of the politically elite and their mates. Millions cheered. Despite the elite resistance, the people's choice presided over cheap gas, local jobs, investment returns, purchase power, and peace. The 'deep state' said "never again" and still hunts to secure it. The ordinary people gamble, but the house always wins. Ordinary people will gamble again. They must hurry and fight harder. ----- People want leaders who prioritize the needs and desires of ordinary people and have a track record of achieving results. Find a better leader, and he will have support regardless of party lines. The establishment isn't it.
  19. There once was a smart Democrat without TDS who spoke respectfully about why folks would vote for Trump again. A good read. https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/4242013-trumps-supporters-are-right-in-front-of-you-quietly-living-among-us/
  20. On topic... This is a decent look at Mitt Romney's conservatism. On him... I like that he tries to separate his personal religious beliefs from his public policy positions, and he doesn't always vote down party lines... conservative on some issues... I also wonder about how Romney thinks. While I recognize that everyone has their beliefs, it perplexes me how an educated man can adhere to a relatively new religion founded by someone with questionable morality, and historical references and events that lack basic evidence.
  21. I’m surprised a teacher didn’t fix it in 23 minutes just based on his see a snake, kill a snake attitude… Would be sued of course…
  22. I criticize republicans in the post you respond to. You make no acknowledgement of Democratic authoritarianism in your response and resort to TDS. You can make it about Trump as you want. He does bad things… acknowledged. But can you acknowledge the good things. There are good things coming from what is also bad things in your post. (legal, news) We should start a post where we argue the opposite our views… just to see how cognitively blind we all are.
  23. Eye of the beholder. I see what you see, acknowledge it, and call out what your brain can’t process.
