  1. If I were to order the outcomes from most likely to least likely I would go: PSU 3 - Neb 2 = ~40% PSU 4 - Neb 1 = ~35% PSU 5 - Neb 0 = ~20% PSU 2 - Neb 3 = ~4% PSU 1 - Neb 4 = ~1% PSU 0 - Neb 5 = ~0.1% So, I'm sayin' there's a chance.
  2. No doubt. 125 - Smith has a higher rank than Lilledahl and 125 tends to be pretty chaotic during the season. Smith is slightly (?) favored at home 133 - Davis has to be the favorite over the 5 loss Van Dee, but... 141 - Hardy v Bartlett #6 v #3 feels likely a one TD match. Depends on who gets the one 149 - Lovett v Van Ness #4 vs #2 has to be the most anticipated of the 5. Expect more scoring here. And while Lovett's only lose this year is in SV to the defending champ, he did get smoked by Kasak last year. 157 - Taylor v Kasak #5 v #3 another two spot gap. Certainly could go either way, though Kasak is favored. I am going to say PSU takes 3 of 5, but 5-0 Nebraska is remotely possible.
  3. Disappointment is my stock in trade

  5. Self awareness is not his strong point.
  6. He does like to argue. It was starting to feel like if I said up he would reflexively say down.
  7. My favorite line from one of my favorite movies.
  8. It is the same attitude as Bo. Askren went to the tournaments because he thought the guys sucked. I do not know why you fail to grasp that. If you do not like Bo implying it, you will not like Askren implying it. I said implying because the exact words Bo used was "this kid from Illinois who is not very good, but was real squirrelly". The guy finished his career 40-56. I would say Bo was accurate and gentle.
  9. They were everywhere, as is evidenced by the fact that you know about them. What does that have to do with Pete Hegseth?
  10. Is he an alcoholic? Many who know him have said yes. And was he ever charged and convicted of sexual assault? I said accused. If the only complaint about Pete Hegseth was that he cheats on his wife, it would not be a contentious hearing.
  11. A drunk, an unfaithful husband, and a man accused of sexual assault walk into a bar. The bartender says, "Table for one, Mr. Hegseth?"
  12. He has bragged about entering open tournaments where he knew he would catch second and third string wrestlers so that he could fatten up his pinfall totals. He was very obsessed with getting the Hodge. He even jokes that Cael Sanderson only won two, just like him, because the third was only a tie.
  13. You will not want to listen to Askren on this topic, then.
  14. I think the situation is fluid. As the NCAA accrues loses in the courts they are hesitant to enforce any of their rules that affect eligibility. They are also more inclined than ever to grant additional eligibility. For that reason, I hesitate to rely on precedence when trying to figure out what the NCAA will do now, other than to say they are far more likely to grant extra years now than at any time in the past, even the very recent past - like last year.
  15. At the risk of speaking for someone else, I think what he means is that people respond to incentives/punishments. If you make a reversal worth 3 instead of 2 then the punishment to the top wrestler is greater. That will incentivize the top wrestler to cut, instead of ride, to avoid giving up the extra point (3-2) if the reversal occurs. With the right data, I think this is testable. In theory you could compare riding time and riding time points from when takedowns and reversals were both worth two to now, when there is a one point difference, and infer whether behavior from top wrestlers has changed.
  16. Iowa just keeps grinding higher. Credit Kyle Parco's move from $4 to #3 this week and Joey Cruz's return to the rankings. Next stop Penn State (not shown but expected points = 139.6) Oklahoma State took a breather this week. While Reece Witcraft, Carter Young, and Caleb Fish saw incremental rankings gains, Troy Spratley dropped from #2 to #4, more than offsetting the gains at 133, 149, and 157. The race for the final podium position remains tight. Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and Northern Iowa are within 14.8 points of each other. Even Cornell and Illinois have a punchers chance.
