  1. Hiring people to do jobs is not the cause of bomb threats. A presidential candidate going on national television and lying about those people to claim they steal and eat pets is the cause.
  2. Making up the problem was the problem. And to say the bomb threats came from overseas is irrelevant. It does not in any way matter where they came from. It only matters that they came. And it matters that it was due to Trump's lies.
  3. Higher medical costs and higher security costs as a result of irresponsibility are not the same. Just as higher ticket prices for movies and shouting fire in a theater are not the same. I am sorry you were told you could keep your doctor, but then the plan changed. I assume you did not issue any bomb threats as a result.
  4. Not even remotely the same things, but I expected no less.
  5. The bomb threat originated with Trump's claims during the debate.
  6. Trump's lies caused the bomb threats, the bomb threats increased costs, Trump should pay for the increased costs.
  7. That he should volunteer to pay for the cost his lies about Springfield, OH has generated. Since his batshit crazy claim that immigrants were stealing and eating pets, there have been 33 bomb threats targeting city schools. City Hall and two hospitals have also been threatened. The result is that state police have been sent to the city to reassure citizens they were safe, the Office of Homeland Security is now dedicating resources to monitor social media for possible threats to the city's residents, Wittenberg college (which just resumed classes and sports after shutting down due to threats) has had to procure additional safety resources. So open up your wallet, Donald. You now have $2 billion in newly marketable securities you can use. Maybe he can sell some Springfield themed crypto, bibles, steaks, and online courses. There are just so many ways to foot the bill for the lies.
  8. I stumbled across a Bill Simmons podcast called The Rewatchables. The idea is that they talk about movies that they love to rewatch. These are the kinds of movies that if you are flipping channels you will stop to watch that one great scene coming up (think the courtroom scene in A Few Good Men - aka "You can't handle the truth"). They tend to explore the movie through categories they have developed over the course of doing 350 of these. The categories are things like most rewatchable scene, biggest over acting, what aged the best/worst?, was this guy really any good at his job?, if you only had one Oscar to give who gets it?, and who won the movie? Highly entertaining stuff. As a result, I now tend to view movies through that prism. So my most rewatchable in no particular order: The Godfather The Godfather Part 2 A Few Good Men Twelve Angry Men (the original) Man on Fire Bridesmaids In The Heat of The Night Lilies of the Valley The Quiet Man The Departed Good Will Hunting Step Brothers Old School No Country for Old Men The Big Lebowski There Will Be Blood Kingpin What About Bob Shawshank Redemption Apollo 13 The Hudsusker Proxy O' Brother Where Art Thou Cast Away Groundhog Day Stand By Me Caddyshack Pump Up the Volume The 40-Year old Virgin The Bourne Identity Coming to America Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade Hoosiers The Fugitive Goodfellas Casino Miracle Stranger Than Fiction Austin Powers" International Man of Mystery Unforgiven Saving Private Ryan Glengarry Glen Ross Plains, Trains, and Automobiles Iron Man Casino Royale My Cousin Vinny Searching for Bobby Fischer .....and probably more.
  9. A couple of times, but not in a long time. After the movie he hired a friend of mine to run the brokerage business for him. He was making more money doing motivational speaking than he ever did with the brokerage. After he sold his stake in the brokerage I lost touch with him.
  10. His lies have led to multiple bomb threats in Springfield. A real thing which he claims he somehow knows nothing about. As opposed to the fake thing which he claims to know about. Yet another example of his lies having a real negative effect on others. See Ashli Babbit.
  11. Years ago I met Chris Gardner at his office, Gradner Rich Securities. I was pitching him on outsourcing his more complicated trades to my firm. It was a weird meeting. It felt like he was pitching me, not the other way around. He seemed like such a promoter. At the end of the meeting he tells me they are going to make a movie about his life and Will Smith was going to play him. I smiled and nodded and thought this guy was so full of shit. A few weeks later my wife is watching 20/20 and they have a story about Will Smith portraying Chris Gardner. Son of a bitch, who is full of shit now?
  12. Racial does not equal racist. A very important distinction that the author of this list was well aware, but hoped the readers of this list would ignore.
  13. Sometimes an old man needs to yell at a cloud.
  14. You sure you're a PSU fan?
  15. He did not. And I did not think to ask. Sorry, but the Yuengling and Weller were flowing.
  16. There are two main ways to view crypto. One is that is a revolutionary technology that will transform everything and change the way we live. In this view, regulators should do everything in their power to promote crypto and provide for a stable environment for its growth. The other view is that crypto is a mostly just a way to scam people. In this view, regulators should crack down mercilessly to prevent scams. Which do we think this is? Which does Donald Trump think this is? Does Donald Trump even know what this is? Before you answer any of those questions maybe it is best to know who the players are. First there is Donald Trump, who has denounced Bitcoin as a scam. Of course, if you are running a scam, doing it from the presidency may have some advantages. Then there is the "DeFi Visionary", Baron Trump. We all know about his business acumen. Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. will fill the roles of "web3 ambassadors". Then there are the two crypto entrepreneurs, Chase Herro and Zachary Folkman. They were behind a similar project called Dough Finance. Now what do you think? Transformative? Or scam? But wait, there is more. Herro describes himself as "the dirtbag of the internet" and Folkman used to run a service to teach men how to seduce women. Now what do you think? Oops, hold that thought. Let's talk about Dough Finance for a second. Never heard of it? Yeah, that is because it no longer exists. It no longer exists because it got "hacked" and all the money was stolen. But why did I put hacked in quotation marks, you might reasonably ask. Because it has long been believed that many/most crypto "hacks" were actually performed by insiders. The founder takes the money and then says, "gee, I am real sorry, but we got hacked. whadda ya gonna do? We will learn from this hack, and our next project will be super duper. And make no mistake, there will be a next project. While we are getting that going make sure to save your money so you can get in on the ground floor." Still deciding? The transform thing? Or the scam thing?
  17. I think this is the first time I have ever quoted myself, but it is to correct myself. Once again, I know nothing. I just spoke to what I believe to be a reliable source who confirmed the $500k. He described it as an Iowa specific outlier. If I had Bob Nicholls' money, I could burn mine.
  18. Kinzinger smells it, too.
  19. I am so glad we have such an articulate candidate. Word salad? Never.
  20. It used to be that the fate of all crypto enthusiasts was to get their money stole. Trump is here to help.
