Wright is a good pick up for Ohio State. I watched a couple of his matches his true freshman year. He wrestled some 165 and 174 too, I believe, but was ineligible last season. He’s a stud out WV and 2 sport star and probably will end up a full sized 174 or maybe 184. Hate to see him leave VT but doubt he was gonna beat Burton anytime soon

I honestly haven’t watched him much, I’ll make some time later to see what I can dig up. VT strengthening the way it is will certainly continue to benefit others…

Gage Wright to the Buckeyes from VT per X. He has three years eligibility…

He's good enough to push for a starting position at either 165 or 174, I think - provided he progressed like VT guys do in that room during his redshirt last year.

I am not convinced that Smith will be effective by season's end, and I won't be until I see him be effective at season's end.

Birden and Stiles?  He can compete with them, if he goes 165lbs.

Great pick up.

I can’t remember if it was this site or another but I read injuries have set him back a bit further than people thought when he came to VT. Stiles and Birden have done well on the FS circuit this offseason but you know…not a direct correlation to folk. I agree though, great pickup to lift the room either way.

How? Also, very sneaky pickup for a team. Think he could be a NQ

Maybe a compliance thing?  I would think his paperwork had to be handed in at the same time as everyone else's.

Speaking of Cal Baptist transfers, Paul Kelly hasn't landed anywhere yet has he? Feel like he's got NCAA qualifier potential in the right room

Carter Neves from Chattanooga to Central Michigan.  He was at Ohio State for his Redshirt year before that, but he has not yet wrestled a college match.

He had retired/took a break from wrestling previously but came back at u23 Nationals and took 8th. Was a legit guy in HS had some real solid wins back then

He won Ironman & National Preps pretty easily in 2024. He was very legit. Top recruit by Ohio State. Then left for UTC. Then he abruptly retires from wrestling after one week at practice last year at UTC. Is stuff like this common? Three schools in under 3 years. AJ gets a bad rap. Lots of kids doing this. Something got to change with this. If we hear about the top guys doing this imagine what the mid tier guys are doing.

The fact that it was Chattanooga checks out. It's where wrestling goes to die.

He was dealing with some mental health issues…it was on his instagram. Glad to see him back!

he went to blair. and was accepted at Stanford.

i'm a Carter Neves fan.

i don't know the entire story. and i hate the transfer-every-single-year trend, too.

but let's not be so hard on him.

What is the latest on Cody Chittum at Chattanooga?

From what I've been told, his plan is to be the starting 149 next year for Chattanooga.

Didn't know that. He is my 3 kids age I just remember him dominating and then he just disappeared. Most guys don't come back when they break like that. Good for him. Guessing family pressure. How many Neves brothers are there? Probably was alot of pressure on him from dad. Usually it is dad. I see it all the time. Just three schools in first three years. Was just curious to what causes that. Most people want a little stability.
