Reporting NIL to the school has nothing to do with the operations budget. Operations budget is the money it takes for day to day operations of the program and is budgeted by the school prior to the next FY. It includes things like staff salaries, support staff, medical, nutrition, travel, meals, recruiting operations (not NIL),

The numbers you posted in your 2 second search are  wrong. Iowa's budget numbers along with expenses and other income are all in a public record online that is published by the Board of Regents. The same with the actual salary contracts of every wrestling staff. You don't need to make a records request. Iowa's budget was 1.857 million with 3.137 million in actual expenses (with about 1.5 million of that in wrestling staff salary and benefits). The deficit was made up with other income that is generated by the program. This is all public record online.

At the end of the day, you can't determine or make arguments of how much a team is spending on NIL based on it's operations budget. They are completely different.

I’m not sure where the disconnect is but I’ve had to have said numerous times already…THEY said it MAY include….not Simpleman424 of the Intermat Wrestling Forums. I still…wouldn’t believe the numbers either way. My entire point from the beginning is they spend a lot of money…they aren’t a peasant program winning recruits and transfers on hopes, dreams, coaching and culture. If you think they’re spending money like that and letting their NIL collectives get doubled up by Iowa and others than that’s on you. I got nothing else for this one…your speculations better than mine fine…I have no dog in this fight outside of saying delusions were getting out of hand.

There is a strong case to be made that the reality is that Nebraska is actually spending more on NIL than Iowa.

they are not. and it's not close.

Kueter gets more than almost the entire Husker roster.

the money promised the 2027 and 2028 class is staggering.

TBD

Kueter gets more than a roster filled with guys like VRob, Minto, and now Ech?

I guess it’s possible if Keuter is still double dipping football with wrestling, but cmon now!

My guess is Kueter is probably making about what Ferrari was getting MAYBE a little more…just saying. Ferrari was going to get 1.2 at UNC but goes to Nebraska for culture and their heavy weight development…yea ok

College sports are super weird.

The weirdest part is all of the fans arguing that their school pays less like that is some kind of accomplishment.

Seems like a terrible deal for Iowa

Hasn't had great regular seasons, but:

U20 World Champ

U20 runner-up, lost close match to Massoumi

2x All-American, on pace for four.  How many 4x AA's are there at heavyweight?

Could be ranked #1 next year

Hometown boy

Maybe double dipping with football?

Can you show where you’re getting this information that Iowa spend so much money on NIL

when it comes to NIL, I’ve only heard rumors never a confirmation from anything

In the know how? I’m not taking away from anyone’s personal contacts or anything. I appreciate the site and passing along information they hear through their channels as we do with Flo and other sources. But we also take what Flo says with a grain of salt…why…because people can/have been wrong. His people might say “I heard Iowa is paying Kueter XX”…that doesn’t mean Iowa is actually paying Kueter XX. Spoken by people closer to the situation (people actively involved in college wrestling) got it…credibility added or at least something to consider but one thing people keep tight is money. As far as I know Iowa isn’t sharing that info, Keuter isn’t sharing that info…and they have no reason to. Especially to media/beat reporters, fans or anyone else. Again more tie ins than any of us but just higher end speculation…we’re acting like people aren’t people even at that level.

He’s not on the football roster anymore, so I doubt it. My point was more that Iowa must be paying Kueter a ton of money cuz I’m sure Nebraska’s NIL budget isn’t less than a six-figure number, despite perpetuations and optics.

Kueter is really good, I’m not disputing that, and that’s not the point of the post. The claim was that this one single wrestler is making more than almost an entire roster of high-level D1 wrestlers, many of which are former AA, and expected to place again. I’m not buying any of that without receipts, regardless of the wrestler’s accolades. Seems entirely outlandish to me

LOL... pot meet kettle: "My guess is Kueter is probably making about what Ferrari was getting MAYBE a little more…just saying. Ferrari was going to get 1.2 at UNC but goes to Nebraska for culture and their heavy weight development…yea ok"

99% of the board is  going to take @Husker_Du's insight on the situation over 99% of the posters.

Ferrari didn't decide to go to Nebraska over UNC.  He didn't have many options.  What he was going to get at UNC was irrelevant as soon as they denied him.

Umm the first two words are “My Guess”…as in complete speculation on my part. Not statement of facts nor should anyone take them as such…which is my whole point. I honestly don’t even think you know what you’re arguing anymore…your like an argumentative wife just skim reading or not reading at all and thinking you’re coming in winning some grand argument with a bunch of “gotcha!” comments…it’s embarrassing. Maybe take a break…

I get the whole fan boy thing and homerisms in things but you’re just making this whole thing weird.

That I understand…and my pre edited comment leaned towards reflecting that. I just edited it to say Kueter would now be making more than him…again no idea what Kueter is making but my comment actually went with the Nebraska faithfuls claim they pay less. I just don’t think it’s to the degree people are speculating.

It seems as if the lack of options is becoming apparent now.  Not a lot schools willing to take a risk on someone who has been charged with what he was charged with.  Not to mention other distractions, injuries,  and a price tag.  Nebraska had to have been the only one that didn't mind his frightening past.

Youre speculating what others are speculating?  I think that's the rub.  You and I don't actually know what anyone is paying (at least I don't) so your speculation that it is less than others speculate is pot meet kettle.

Willie may be more than speculating which is why it gets more credit.

This has to be one of the dumbest conversations I’ve had online…I’m not sure how many times I could say it or different ways…yes everyone is speculating, literally everyone. The fact that you put “Willie may be…” acknowledges that there’s room for skepticism still and/or his own speculation. Which is completely fine. I give his input more credibility than mine so maybe my speculation could be a little low and his a little high? Eh who knows. I have never once said people can’t speculate…I just said that sounds way off and I’d assume something different. Usually the “pot calling the kettle black” is for hypocritical people…I wasn’t saying you can’t question people or thoughts like you guys are here. I didn’t even have an extreme view to counter theirs. Anyway…I and many others will stay skeptical that one wrestlers is making as much as almost all of Nebraskas roster until proof is shown. And certainly skeptical of the much more crazy claims of spending penny’s, built not bought etc etc. Please read all the comments before you get into your feelings and reply to one thing, or worse yet pick for one small thing within a thing to try and go after other posters right to be skeptical…

Apparently. Usually when people say something seemingly contrary to the norm or extreme you can discuss those things in an open forum…like a forum community. Other communities I don’t have issues with people actually reading comments or saying I said something I didn’t.

Probably time to just see something clearly delusional/bias and just drop a poo emoji and move on…so I don’t have to explain skepticism or speculation.

Does that thinking on the spend not being close include the '27/'28 class?  I assumed the conversation was surrounding current classes and transfers, which I would figure was much closer given the transfers NU brought in.  Keuter definitely had the pedigree for the spend at the time, so that isn't shocking necessarily.

Dang, didn't see that one coming.  I'm sorry my comment upset you. I don't take message board comments that seriously and didn't mean anything malicious, I probably shouldn't of used the pot meet kettle phrase, I just found it funny that people are arguing over speculations and speculating on those speculations and getting worked up about what nobody actually knows. I think I used the word speculating 4-5 times in my short reply to highlight the absurdity of this debate.  My bad.
