Exactly.  Iowa, known to be utterly devoid of transfers.

Built not bought! Which suddenly means “we didn’t buy because someone else is reported to have offered more money…so it doesn’t count as buying because we used less money. So it’s not buying. Cuz everyone knows buying only counts when you pay for something that someone else would have paid less for. Then it’s considered buying. But when YOU are the people paying less, it’s built on culture, not exchange of funds for services.”

Wasn’t it money/perks that Brands wasn’t willing to do the song and dance over? The Bassetts wanted perks or flights paid for or something and Brands essentially said no, stop trying to milk us. Then Va Tech landed him and Melvin Miller

That’s the problem with giving some fan bases some successes. They finally get all 10 guys to just qualify for NCAA’s for the first time in 5-6 years and all the sudden they’re elite financiers, coaches and culture setters…

A handful of recruits were going to nebraska the switch because of $$$ Bassett and Miller being 2. Aj got offered more, robinson more. Nebraska isnt offering / doesnt have the big $$ to drop like iowa. Iowa spends on 1-2 wrestlers what Nebraska does the entire team. Go to Nebraska for things better than money.  Now its even working better. Look at all these Nebraska guys getting asked to go to RAF. Nebraska is the a better place to go now than almost every school. Has certainly passed iowa

Literally a two second search shows how much money Nebraska is spending…

Top 10 Overall Budgets (FY25): According to FOIA-reported data from March 2026, the highest-funded programs in terms of total operating budgets include:

Penn State (\(\$7.86M\))

Oklahoma State (\(\$5.05M\))

Iowa (\(\$4.02M\))

Ohio State (\(\$3.18M\))

Nebraska (\(\$3.06M\))

Rutgers (\(\$3.01M\))

Virginia Tech (\(\$3.01M\))

Michigan (\(\$2.98M\))

Iowa State (\(\$2.68M\))

Arizona State (\(\$2.66M\)

These budgets cover operational costs and in many cases include substantial NIL backing for student-athletes.

And a separate search…

Nebraska wrestling benefits from a strong NIL environment, with top college wrestlers nationally potentially earning $100,000–$400,000+ annually, according to estimates.

Yea sliding in at ~600k more than Nebraska…I didn’t think you’d get the point of that post. You’re acting like their Nebraska is some penny pinching program just pulling in guys on culture and coaching. No…you’re still a top 5 spending program and just behind Iowa. You can make up your fake scenarios of Iowa offering Bo and Miller twice as much (and others) or whatever you want but the numbers bare it out.

There is a strong case to be made that the reality is that Nebraska is actually spending more on NIL than Iowa.

The numbers given include money spent on coaching staffs (college and rtc), rtc athletes, and facilities/training - not just NIL.

It would be safe to say that Iowa spends more in all those avenues - more/bigger rtc, highest paid college coaches, the best facilities, etc.  It would not be wild to assume Iowa spends $1 million more in those areas.  Thus making NIL comparable, if not less at Iowa.

Uhhh.... 4.02 mil and 3.06 million is not 600k difference....it's 960k ... which in my math is almost a million dollars.

Correct, I read that wrong. Still not fitting the scenario being exaggerated here…

Wasn't really a money issue, Bassett's could've paid for it, they've paid plenty over the years for training opportunities out of pocket. Bo wanted open access to come to the RTC whenever and a set place to sleep. Brands didn't want to accommodate that and allegedly the disagreement escalated.

Pretty sure Bo crashes on Caleb's couch when he comes to Blacksburg as of now, we don't pay anything for him to come down and it's just additional training partners so we view it as a positive when they want to come down.
