I love Jeb Prechtel vs Yannis Charles in the pigtail for 157.  Neither of these guys was expected to have a chance of making nationals.  And now one of them is going to have at least one victory

Prechtel was a blast to watch at SCC. From not even making State in high school to wrestling at Nationals is crazy

3 OT wins at Big Tens, not to mention how the finals went down. I'm not gonna look it up, but I recall his run to the finals 2 yrs. ago also involved several OT or 1 point matches.

Now with a legitimate coach this year.  More wins (3) and singlet pulls (4) at bigs than offensive takedowns (2) makes sense

184 is laughable at best. Rocco must have a lucky horseshoe tied to a 4leaf clover shoved up his @$$. Unreal.

Yeah that no takedown call turned out to help Rocco more than anyone could imagine. Doesn’t seem right… pretty much everyone agrees McEnelly had a the takedown but the seeding committee doesn’t look at the court of public opinion.

Some wild seeds.  In some cases the small conference guys with weak schedules got rewarded with big seeds.  In other cases they didn't.  A few seeds that seemed odd to me...

Vincent Robinson 12

Bouzakis 3 and Volk 6, but then Ayala 6 and Byrd 7.  I'm not sure what the head to head means or doesn't mean.

Davino's quarter is nuts for a number 2 guy who could have easily been 1.

Tyus as the 6 seed at 149 fresh off losing the MAC to the 17 seed.

James Conway the 4 seed at 184 somehow.  And how that ridiculously loads the bottom half of the bracket.

Losing to the 31st ranked wrestler at conference then getting the 4 seed is absurd

Just filled it out at light speed -- my finals

125 Lilledahl over Bouzakis

133 Jax Forest over Ben Davino

141 Mendez over Hardy (just feel like he'll find a way against Vega in the semis)

149 Jaxon Joy over Van Ness

157 Taylor over Duke (hard to ignore the domination in the big ten finals, but I think an NCAA finals goes more like the first match they had; also could see Larkin beating Duke in the semins)

165 Mesenbrink over Blaze

174 Haines over Ruiz

184 McNelly over Welch

197 Barr over Rademacher

285 Trumble over Feldman

How on earth did James Conway get the 4 seed? Holy hell. That is unbelievable.

The winner of the conference ahead of Conway is in the bottom bracket and will face Angelo Ferrari in round 2.

My overall take is that other than Spratley, OK State got pretty favorable seeds/draws IMO.  I would not be surprised to see their whole team in the quarters.

PSU about as expected. Welsh gets a favorable draw, but for the others there could be more interesting matches before the semis for their #1’s than I thought.

tOSU a bit of a tough draw IMO, especially Davino, Stiles, Cannon, Feldman.

Spratley vs Robinson round 2 ... defending champ the 12 seed - crazy.

Way too large. McGowan Princeton and Provo are ranked way above their abilities. Meanwhile Moran is seeded 14, Poulin is 13 and Robinson is 12: CCCCCriminalllll

The thing that immediately jumped out at me was the top half of 125.  Lilledahl has loseable matches starting in round 2 if it's Strickenberger

He squeaked out the win vs. Witt earlier this season (5-4 IIRC). Might have had his guard down against a relatively unknown true freshman at the time though. But Lilledahl certainly has a tough road with Robinson, Spratley, Peterson, and Seymour all on the top half.

Jax only wrestles in the second semester and then get the gift of the #1 seed?

Unreal.

Gift? The eye test is crazy for him. And he’s wrecking almost everyone.

Exactly my thought!!!!

Have a great season and one stinky tournament and you drop like a stone.   Wrestle so-so, make it to the finals of your tournament and climb the seedings!   This is crazy considering some of the conference tournaments have far fewer teams.

Any risk of anyone not being healthy and being replaced?  Zerban and Trever Anderson seem most likely candidates

Good question, especially curious about Zerban.   Also, how injured was Allred?  He MFF out at B10s.

He is awesome.

He's one of my favorites.

He was gifted the #1 seed.

He should have been third behind Davino and Blaze imo.

It's going to be fantastically amazin' to see how the 133 bracket shakes itself out w/ all the premier talent (FRESHMAN no less) packed in there!!!
