If the whole bathroom boogyman didn't exist at all, would you all still be against referring to someone as their preferred gender?
Please explain why or why not?

You can’t force people to believe your ideology.

the bathroom issue exists.  It’s a waste of time to pretend it doesn’t

I think everyone has the right to choose who they want to be - as long as they’re not hurting anyone else. About 23 years ago, I worked in the fiction section of a bookstore. One time, a girl came up to me and said, "I'm a donkey - give me a book." At the time, I didn’t get into a debate that didn’t concern me (like the silly advice of saying, "No, you’re not a donkey, you’re human"). I just handed her Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho, because I felt it might be interesting for her.

Who are we to judge? We all have thousands of contradictions and conflicts inside ourselves - we’re not in a position to decide what others want to be.

Generally speaking I think this is true.   But with a few caveats:

1.   When the cost of this goes from zero to counseling/drugs/surgery to be paid for by the government, I say no.

2.  When drugs/surgery are done to minors, I say no.

3.  For those of majority age, they can pay for this themselves.

4.  No government subsidy for prison inmates and illegal aliens.

Because this is a mental illness, there is an effect on society eventually.  That effect will be stayed longer if government is not asked to financially support transitioning bodies and covering prescription drugs to maintain the facade.

You think it is a boogeyman?   It is not imaginary, it is happening.   A black lesbian is the face of resistance in CA for allowing dudes in locker rooms.   https://kfoxtv.com/news/nation-world/tish-hyman-confronts-california-state-sen-wiener-over-trans-women-in-female-locker-rooms-scott-weiner-golds-gym-trans-people   She's not doing this because it is imaginary.

With your imaginary issue comes sports competitions where xy chromosome individuals compete with xx chromosome individuals.   This is not imaginary.   Became very infamous when the mens swimmer Will Thomas who "became" a woman swimmer named Lia Thomas and killed the competition.   Was that fair to the women?  Simple question.

That's what this is all about.   It is about fairness to women.   Generally speaking they do not want penises in their locker rooms or lavatories or playing in their sports.   It certainly is not imaginary.   We have HS girls sports being won by boys here in WA.   And you cannot take that aspect of it away, because that is a good deal what this is all about.

If you say trans women are women, you are admitting they are not women because they are something else.   That's why the difference is made clear at the beginning in that line of reasoning, because they are something else.   And everyone knows it.  The question is this:   Who is committed to the truth?  Anyone that espouses an untruth is not committed to the truth.

Yes, this is true even though that professor from Penn says it is not true.   Everyone laughed at him as he kept denying this.   That man is a "man of science" who is a sellout to popular culture.

I see these nut jobs all around. I have a small place up north I spend some time at. On our way through a small town there there is one who mows his yard in a prom dress. He thinks he's a woman, but no woman mows their yard in a prom dress.  They are a cliche that is an insult to actual females. For a man or a woman to say they feel like the opposite sex is just stupid. I'm a man and I know only what I feel like being a man, but would never say I know what it feels like to be a man. Nobody can say they feel like the opposite sex because there is no feel associated with being of a certain sex. When you dress like a whore or a cabaret dancer, or a prom date, you're delusional, not in the wrong body.

reminds me of a joke. should have just said, you might be a jackass, but who am i to judge,

the problem comes in when they expect the rest of us to buy into their fantasy and allow them into spaces they don't need to be in.

You are in Iran correct?   If so, what would be the punishment for a man to dress as a woman?    What would be the punishment if a man entered into women bathroom facilities or locker room facilities?    Or vice versa?   My guess is Islam says this is a big No No.

If someone who thinks they’re a donkey starts expecting everyone else to act like donkeys too then that’s where the "as long as they’re not hurting anyone else" clause kicks in.

When it comes to gender, the American Psychological Association (APA) recognizes the rights and identities of transgender and queer people. They make a clear distinction between an identity and a disorder.

The only time the APA talks about "disorder" in this context is when a person is experiencing significant distress because of their gender identity. In other words, the issue isn’t the identity itself, but the suffering that may accompany it.

I actually have a Persian translation of the DSM-5 manual. The sections on Gender Dysphoria in Children and Gender Dysphoria in Adolescents and Adults explain that these conditions are associated with significant clinical distress or impairment in social, academic, or other important areas of functioning. In other words, a disorder is only considered when the individual themselves experiences this distress. The text is quite long, so I haven’t gone into full detail here.

Here, the government allows people to choose their gender, meaning a woman can decide to become a man and vice versa. However, anyone who wants to do so must go through the official medical procedures for gender transition. I’m not really sure about the laws regarding a third gender—someone who doesn’t identify strictly as male or female.

However, if a man wears women’s clothing and enters women’s bathrooms or locker rooms, this is clearly considered a crime in Iran. In such cases, the soldiers who arrest the person might even give their own kind of "friendly punishment" before the trial - basically saying something like, "Well, you’re a woman, right? Okay, come on, we'll take care of you!"

And it can get much worse. After going to court, the person could be sent to prison, often alongside criminals whose minimum offense is murder. Once inside, everyone knows why they were arrested, so it’s hard to imagine how the person could safely sleep at night. In any case, I really hope no one ever tries something like this in Iran.

It clearly is a "boogeyman"... you've just proven it with your post.

Thanks for that, you weird little dude.

Thank you for this. Thank you for being honest. I would love for you to go into some detail about some of these topics but I think you have before. So I won't burden you by repeating yourself. You didn't address my issue btw. So you can take another swing at it because all the points you brought up have nothing to do with my topic.

With that being said. This was the most disgusting thing, I think, you've ever written. On this message board we see comparisons to nazis and fascists and how conservatives and supporters of 47 can't bring themselves to see the similarities. This was different. I'm sure you've stopped reading by now but I'll continue.

What you wrote in opposition for trans HUMAN BEINGS from receiving gender affirming care(not the topic) could have been lifted word for word from anti gay and lesbian organizations lobbying against government intervention during the AIDS crisis in the 70's and 80's. As a disease was ravaging their community, people stood up and loudly cheered for government to let them die. Because they were defective in one way or another. Immoral because of their deviant lifestyle. As it turns out none of that was true. I have a feeling they knew it at the time but fear had consumed them. And for they demanded the slow and painful deaths of a tiny fraction of what was then the population of the country. All because they were purposefully ignorant and afraid. But that fear gave them purpose. That's where the nazi comparison comes into play. All of those horrible things were done because of righteous fear. They were terrified to such an extent that it became a zero sum game. Them or us. They, collectively, decided... them. By the time they realized what that really meant, it was too late to turn the ship. Talking against the state would lead to you disappearing. Again, you've probably not read up to this point but I hope some of you have because its really sad that you need to continually need to be bludgeoned by these facts before you come to realize that YOU are the problem, not trans people.

Hateful. Ignorant. Bigoted. And fearful people. Did they turn out to be correct? NO!

LBJ has a line in a movie, it was probably made up, but he was talking to George Wallace, the governor of Alabama, 'I'll be damned if I'm gonna let history put me in the same place as the likes of you.'

You're terrified and you're either letting or encouraging that fear to turn you into a terrible person. You think its righteous because you're trying to 'protect' whomever you've convinced yourself needs it. They probably don't. In every instance of 'we must protect the women and children' they were never in any real danger. It was just a reason to hurt, mame, and kill a group of people that you didn't like at the time. But it gives you purpose to fight this fight.

You're just as disgraceful as those people back in the 70's and 80's. I hope you come to your senses sooner than they did.
