You want to know what's awful for growing the sport?  Having a mentally challenged midget who sounds like he's on the spectrum every time he speaks and jumps around during matches likeBut, but, but someone put hot coals in his pants lead one of the larger programs in the country.

A mother see and hears that and doesn't think "boy I need to get my child involved in that"

But he took his team to Paycom duals, never mind Penn St crushed them in Carver.

Tom and Terry are alot of things, but at least they schedule tougher out of conference opponents. ISU and Okie state. Provides some fun for the viewers to see match ups that you would never likely see

Can’t be when he said “lead”…Braeden Davis was gifted that spot due to injury not leadership or anything I’m sure anyone on that team is looking to immulate.

You are going about it all wrong with HEW.

You have to ask what Penn State is doing wrong to tear up all the shoulders.  Cassar, Robby Howard, now Nagao

Dodgeball throws?  🙅‍♀️

At least Tom and Terry schedule tougher out of conference opponents is laughable. What's Iowa State's record against Iowa over the last 25 years? Normally not close until the last couple of years and a big win this year because the Hawkeye program continues its decline since 2015. OK State was a shell of itself for years as they held on to a "hero" for way too long and they declined until they brought in a coach that has reinvigorated the program that will now beat the Hawkeyes every year starting next year and maybe even this year. These non-conference matches will become losses as other teams continue to pass the Hawkeyes. The decline is evident now and will be glaring next year.

The ISU and OSU duals are legacy matches. These rivalries developed over the full history of NCAA wrestling. Laughable? These matches are for a lot of fans the essence of the sport.

So, it's laughable to for me to say that okie state and Iowa State are tougher non-conference opponents than edinboro????? I think it's a pretty accurate statement, unless you think edinboro is comparable to both isu and OSU? Which you must sense my statement was laughable

I think this is the exact point of the OP.  Iowa schedules ISU and OSU, who in most years are top 10 teams.  Iowa has been better and won most of those matchups but still scheduled them.

PSU doesn't seem interested in scheduling other top 10 teams not required by the B1G, even though there is no doubt they would win those duals easily.

I would also question whether TNT really have a choice in this . . .

Those have been annual for so long if TNT were the ones to say no we don't to wrestle them anymore? No chance they take the optics of that

So, to summarize:

Penn State should stop focusing on the individual betterment of wrestlers on their team, and not send them to U17/U20/U23/Senior worlds, and instead, focus on early-season duals with teams that they'd kill anyways.

Or, they should send their 2nd/3rd team to these events instead, so the fanbases of other schools can have the enjoyment of saying they beat "Penn State".

That is a unique summarization. I'll just say no. My original thought when I posted it was just to hear back from people on there thoughts on weather or not we would see a change in the future. Idc if Carl doesn't send his team to national duals or not. I will say thought it does get tiring hearing the PSU fans say they they could win it with there second stringers. Which I think they could. But I'm not saying, and never said Penn state should stop focusing on the betterment of their wrestlers, and I'm pretty sure you know that and just want to argue the points that it would make. Which is fine too.

For it to be "tiring", there must be many-upon-many examples of this (beyond the voices caveira hears in his head about Penn State).

Where are these numerous threads?

You are correct. The tiring amount are not on the forums but rather social media comment sections. I should have been more specific.

Hopefully you are not required to summarize for a living.

While my comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek, there are more than a few comments from posters here indicating that's what they believe Cael & Co. should be doing.

Here's a real gem:

Perfectly said.  Cael is a coward.  If he wants to protect seeds so bad he could at least send some backups. Let the room guys get some matches.

I’m sorry Iowa State is usually a top ten team? They’ve finished top 10 once since 2011 (2024) , other teams with top 10 finishes in that time , American , Boise State, Rutgers, Edinboro 2x, Northern Iowa 2x, Oregon State 2x…in just the past 10 years Iowa state finished the ncaa tournament with 1 total point then followed that up with 3 total points the following year

Believe it or not, NCAA Wrestling existed before 2011.

What does pre 2011 have to do with you giving Iowa credit for wrestling Iowa State every year with the claim that they are usually a top 10 team which is nonsense. In the past 15 years ( since 2011) they have finished top 10 once and finished 20th or lower 5 times, including a 45th and 57th place finished they’ve won 1 conference title in that span. You don’t get props or a pat on the back for continuing to schedule a team you beat 20 times in a row until this season.

Therefore, shouldn't Carl having Oklahoma and Lehigh on the schedule - historically strong programs, with Oklahoma being a previous winner of the NCAAs - satisfy the "PSU not wrestling any teams from outside the B1G" issue?
