I dont know this for a fact, but Hipolito is a very active jiu jitsu competitor, and Rafael Lovato Jr (the jiu jitsu legend now wrestling heavyweight for OCU)'s gym is in Oklahoma City, Nick Heflin trains there among others. Idk of he trains there a lot, but he has posted about training there this year on IG. Could have been a factor if he has long term bjj plans.

Pretty solid day for the Sooners they got alot better. Grabbed Powe , Eise and Robb plus they have Hipalito coming back from redshirt

Do you have any idea what the deal is with Anthony Santaniello and Oklahoma?

No idea . Flo and a few other places say he’s going to Oklahoma but his social media is still all Pitt stuff and I haven’t seen anything official

And didn't he orginally commit there before going to Pitt?  That was what confused me most of all.  I wondered if the data was dragged forward by accident and copied across to WS without a full verification.  Otherwise, he is actually going back to the place he originally committed to during his recruitment process out of Brick

Wells must be going back down.

125 - Hendrickson

133 - Wells

141 - Santaniello

149 - Gioffre

157 - Hipolito

165 - ??? (Keep Schubert?)

174 - Eise

184 - Robb

197 - Harris

285 - Hill

That is a scrappy dual team.  Might not score a lot at Nationals, but they are making a lot of duals interesting.

Edit: Phuk me, add Powe as well.

Maybe a bump from 141-157 to account for Powe wherever he wants to go.

He took what was probably his one and only chance to move up from NDSU.  When you’re the 4th or 5th choice for a job nobody else wanted you better have a solid game plan and it better work and fast.   He burned bridges badly on his way out of Fargo and had to watch Obe Blanc lead one the wrestlers he left behind to AA status ly while he had none.   A karma sammich that had to taste terrible.  I’m guessing he’s gone soon.

I think Oklahoma would win a dual meet against NDSU next year. Probably this past year too, right?

I have no idea. For sure more than NDSU. They picked up multiple guys from the portal last off-season. Maybe that's why he went there.

Yea he did and I think they actually held up his transfer and tried to stop it which is crazy bc outside of Bono no one does that anymore

Ya think?   More money gets you better wrestlers. Doesn’t mean you’re a better coach

I said they'd win in a dual because I felt he needed a little defending.

But it sounds like you know more to the story and I do.

Why would in state talent want to go to OU? Who was the last guy that showed development at that program?

At least two..., Mark & Dave Schultz?

They should focus on the in-state talent now that OSU recruiting has gone national.  Seems like a nice opportunity there.  A guy like Routledge is the type of recruit they need to lock down in the future.

I hate to break it to you, Kish did recruit in state talent, HARD. He had Routledge at the RTC for a couple of years. I would argue he would have went to OU before they hired Kish. He had a tight bond with (asst coach when Lou was there, I cannot remember his name). OU has the tradition, decent facilites, they just have failed at finding a GOOD HC.

I hope so and agree. Good for the sport. Kish is a solid hire.

It’s crazy that ou is the closest D1 to the state of Texas and hasn’t had the recruiting success they’ve had in their other big sports, men’s gymnastics and softball.

Seems there’s more of a pipeline to Missouri from Texas than OU. Allan Hart is an assistant coach at Allen HS. I was thinking there’s another former MU wrestler or asst coach that is a HS coach somewhere in TX, but can’t remember who it is.

Cody Greene(rip) was coaching here in Tx at the time of his passing. Katy, Tx or round about. Might have been at a club and not a high school.

He still has a red shirt as well but that doesn't answer the 133 question

I THINK he is having off season surgery, and he will be out next year....that was the rumor
