I feel like he is the most prepared to run a program and is a terrific head coach candidate, probably the safest one out there at this point.

If not for The Lee, I think he would be the best successor to the Brands.

If any of the "big names" mentioned want a head coaching job, they would do well to take an assistant job for a few years with a strong program.  Recruits might be attracted to recent World or Olympic medalists, but most ADs want to see a more structured work resume.

But if The Lee got a letter of recommendation from The Jimmy? 🙅‍♀️

Whoever is lucky enough to get Metcalf will be very happy with the results

The guy was largely scramble proof.  He still knew how to create an angle when attacking on his feet...I'd like to see how Brent does as well.

Like Schwab but hard to ignore what Damion Hahn has done at SDSU.

Also, wanted to see Ben at a program (would have been wild to see what he could have done) but that may not be in the cards at this time.

I for one would LOVE to see a Metcalf HC Ramos Associate HC combo takeover at Iowa.

Not only is in on brand but it would greatly modernize them with two of the stronger up and coming candidates.

Not sure Ramos would make a lateral move back to Iowa though. Chapel Hill is a tad nicer.

I hear that a lot and makes sense, very successful and loyal assistant. But you wonder if with Cael likely still going strong and DT positioning Okie St to contend semi yearly, if tOSU’s AD looks to make a splash hire ala DT at Okie St or Cael at PSU.

Lee and his few elite signature moves lacks the people skills to bring a team together like a Tom Ryan or Mark Manning. I wouldn’t follow either one to a source of water if I was dying of thirst. Parents of these wrestlers shouldn’t either.

JB is the guy to get.  I would think he would go to Nebraska at some point, but Nebraska has had some issues with NIL money for the top guys.

JB moves the needle and he is the perfect combination of a fundraiser and technician.  There are very few people that can do both.

Why would Scott want to live in Iowa?  More importantly why would his wife want to live there?

Iowa is better than Stillwater

Not to mention that the way he competed was the classic Iowa style of pace and toughness. I think JB would be the guy to get as well.

I just don’t see Burroughs or Dake being great HCs. They will recruit great, yes, but what they were on the mat isn’t as teachable.

What isn’t teachable about what Burroughs did?

An explosive blast double is all he had in Folk. And freestyle honesty. He did it at such a high level in both, that he was able to win significantly more than lose.

Both he and Dake won a whole lot on superior athleticism. Burroughs benefited his offense and Dake his defense.

No coach can teach how to have positional athleticism. None. You either are or aren’t.

One of the best examples that I can give of my opinion is Nick Lee. Nothing about him was athletic. But he was so positionally sound, and had solid fundamentals and technique. He was coached to his strengths, and did it at an elite level.   Zero flash or wow factor, and yet was a 2-time National Champion. He got coached up on what he could be taught. What could Burroughs have taught him about a blast double from 3 steps out? Or Dake at holding center when the guy you’re wrestling is stronger and quicker than you?

I just don’t see certain coaches capable of coaching what they could do.

It's a pretty big disrespect to reduce JB down to blast doubles.  He found what worked for him and maximized it.  He will do the same for his kids.  He has such a great command of the sport when he commentates and he is running a club.  I doubt that the club is only full of kids learning the blast double.  He has mentioned reaching out to Chance to learn and that what DT was able to do made him interested in coaching.

Iowa will either be awesome because it picked up JB, or a long-term failure having been too short-sighted and missed out on DT and JB!

I agree he’ll be a great CEO! He will put together great recruiting. I just don’t see him being capable personally in maximized development.

What is everyone's thoughts on ringer being a good coach someday.

The guy was an absolute beast in college, he my have had some struggles on the world stage but he had to run through absolute juggernauts to make teams.

Does he lack of world accolades not make him a viable coaching option at the d1 level

Full of un-bias blasphemy.
