  1. Absolutely awesome post! Where do you find the time? To know these international athletes this well is impressive alone, let alone the analysis. We'll done! Peace! ~Curt
  2. Jammenz...I agree, it was a GREAT article from Kyle. My condolences to Sue and J's entire family and the countless members of the Minnesota wrestling family who now mourn. Thank you for the job J as JROB Director for so many years and most importantly, for the countless memories!
  3. Crookham to Minney...come on Eggs...make it happen!
  4. What a great post jackwebster and so true. Likewise, I always found it more important to be consistent in all matters than try to be someone else. Consistency brings with it, trust. Regards Coach!
  5. Are you claiming that experience (i.e. level of eligibility) is dependent on ability to horsepower your opponents? I'm missing your point on why Jax is not a "truly" True Freshman...which he is.
  6. I thought it was easy...Vega, Ow...MM Hodge. Don't like the idea of splitting the Hodg, so IMO, it is clearly MM for Hodge as well, now that they screwed up the OW.
  7. I was speaking about Vega as the OW.
  8. Yeah...and ONE of those against a senior, two-time champ...definitely OW caliber!
  9. Thought I read somewhere that MM was the OW? That would be a bit of a travesty. Hodge...totally ok with that, however, seeing a true frosh go undefeated while beating a guy going for his third title is the OW of this tournament. Is it possible we are already under appreciating the feats these young men are achieving?
  10. He would have to make weight for anything to count. Points, position, etc.
  11. I appreciate the suspicion it could happen. I just don't see it. I believe it's more likely that Caleb Rathjen opens the bottom half with the way he has been competing. Also, I would have to pick against Kapusta and I just can't do that!
  12. I always wonder who can take out a PSU stud. The problem is...THEY are the tough out. I realize everyone can have a bad day but it is almost impossible to predict who can out pace one of the PSU wrestlers. Who do you see taking out SVN? I don't see it.
  13. I like this one as well! Geez...so many but as a Minny fan, I think the match between Volk and Roark is far from a given.
  14. Power doubled the wife in the middle of the hallway after listening to Schwabee. Dogs didn't even dare.
  15. Vega could be extremely dangerous to anyone, especially wrestling him the first time. With that said, Mendez is off the charts technical for this day and age. Mendez with the sizeable win IMO.
  16. Surprisingly confident considering there are a certain number of us who genuinely feel, for one reason or the other, Welsh was given all the close calls.

  18. As mentioned earlier, I don't post often. Again, this post is spot on though. It does, however, reach to my uncertainties. Name dropping is purposeful for illumination. Once while wrestling with Jayson Ness I had the audacity ( having never secured a proper takedown) of making a recommendation to a slight correction. His response was immediate, "I know a few things, practice them always so I can do them to anyone". Case closed. Make no mistake, this wasn't about simplicity. As witnessed by the world, he did have the GO-TO move for desperate situations. Compare this with Zach Sanders, who is a literal rollodex of technique. I have never met anyone, short of Joe Russell, who knew more technique than Zach (wrestled Zeke when I was younger, but I didn't consider myself as knowing him well. Same for John Smith). Anywho, tough to know if Jordan's abilities are transferable. I wonder what Joran would say. Such a unique and incredible athlete. Judging from their trajectories, Sanders coaching, Ness with a personal life, I am betting, I'm not the only one who has noticed this trait. Interesting to say the least. Respect to all! ~Curt P.s. still no respect for Damion Hahn??
  19. Wrestlestat.com has Ezekiel at 12-7. Very competitive with the best at the weight so far this season.
  20. The guy was largely scramble proof. He still knew how to create an angle when attacking on his feet...I'd like to see how Brent does as well. Like Schwab but hard to ignore what Damion Hahn has done at SDSU. Also, wanted to see Ben at a program (would have been wild to see what he could have done) but that may not be in the cards at this time. ~Curt
  21. Well said! I read these threads, mostly for the laughs, as there are some genuinely clever individuals. I have also purposefully stayed away from posting on this topic until now. However, this is a great post and points out what seems to have been largely missed...there are two sides. I had supper with "My Man" John Stutzman awhile back and the rigors of college coaching these days are surreal! NIL, poaching, mental health days, etc. Despite how you may feel about TnT, does not change the fact that he needs to run/manage a highly successful program. The unfortunate reality is that "cancers" in a program do exist (not saying Mo was, I don't know) and they have to be excised as quickly as possible. You rightly point out, maybe TnT had a valid reason for dropping their #4. Now, I don't know but neither do most that post here. If, by chance, Mo was trying to achieve an out, for a multiple of personal reasons, that has to be stopped immediately or the next NIL kid with a bad toe will be at the negotiating table as well. Again, I don't know. The speculation is funny to me but I have been around long enough to know yours may be spot on. ~Curt
  22. Pablo, I noticed NDSU's 125: Ezekiel Witt is not listed. Obe is quietly grooming this young man to be a thorn for anyone at NCAA's.
  23. Very well stated! Totally agree
