Match notes for Lehigh show Stanich and Crookham, and Joy/Shapiro/Ruiz for Cornell.

1pm Saturday streamed on Flo.  Might be fun.  Cornella vs Stanich is a top 10 (5?) matchup.  Bonus points might be real key to victory.

This will a great match if we see all those guys.  Crookham arrives at the same time as Jax.

Why would the #6 ranked Cornella beating the #5 ranked Stanich (if he is even ranked) who hasn’t wrestled in about 6 months be an “upset special”? You sound like a guy who says i’m going to go wayyyyy out on a limb here and say the coin flip will be tails……

and no Roz at 157 so Shapiro will get a cake walk to bonus and Reinsel at 149 since Griffin is done for year….

Got to agree with that. Stanich will be rusty.

I've got Cornell taking it, 19-14.  Upset special, Cornella over Stanich.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Does Cornell even care if they win dual meets?

Based on recent years.. definitely not as much as they care about seeds. However, in this dual, I don't see any match-ups that present downside, so it wouldn't make much sense to sit anyone that isn't truly hurt.

You're aware that Stanich is a Jr. World Champ and AA'd as a TRFR.. and Vince Cornella failed to qualify for NCAAs his last year as a starter, no?

Cornella has been wrestling extremely well this year, but outside of his recent win over Composto, his only win over an AA in his career was Cole Matthews (in 2024 when Matthews was nearly 2 years removed from his lone AA season).

No.  Cornella has qualified for the NCAA tournament both years he has competed (freshman and sophomore years), both as a starter.  He qualified but was injured in 2024, and did not compete due to that injury in 2025.

Because someone had to stir the pot a bit on this thread - And Mookie hasn't been around here for a while. 😉

I figured that would get a reaction one way or another.

Starts at 133.  Crookham decisions Ferrara. 2 takedowns, rubberknee, reattack, and a sucker drag.

Stanich decisions Cornella.  Cornella draws first blood, Stanich with a go behind with 10 seconds left for the win.

Joy currently up 7-0.

Cornell got their bonus points w/ 3 out of their 4 wins... Stanich's TD on Cornella raised the roof off of Leeman-Tirner Arena.

It was outstanding, imho... the lineup finally came togethetr at the RIGHT TIME!!!

Ashton Davis weighed in at 285 for Cornell, but I think going with Cash Henderson was a good move.  Taylor would have been expecting Davis and had never wrestled Cash before.  And you've got to figure that a guy named Cash would be good in a money bout.

Cornella really should've won his match.  He shut down late in the 3rd and tried to see time out in the front headlock position. Credit Stanich for moving forward and wearing him down but it was a good opportunity for Cornella to win.  Gotta think Stanich will only get sharper moving forward.  Regardless it looks like Cornella is actually healthy now which is nice to see.
