Ohio State currently putting on an absolute drumming of Oregon State (to be expected) but one result worth noting..

Nic Bouzakis TF #10 Maximo Renteria.

Bouzakis is a problem at 125. He's been the most impressive of anyone at the weight this season.

Yeah he’s been dominant all year, not sure how he loss to McCrone. Last year when McCrone was the 25’ he can only wrestle when he was on top

not sure if it was familiarity with a team mate or Nic getting used to the weight cut when he lost to McCrone

Bouzakis to me has always been better at freestyle, call me crazy but if he was wrestling and pushing Spencer at final x for the 57kg spot I would not be entirely shocked.

Man, I think Geog got screwed.....right near the end of regulation, it looked like they were totally out of bounds, at least from my angle, and the official let them wrestle back in and rademacher escaped a couple seconds later to send it into ot.  I think Logan Steiber or Jaggers even pointed to that spot as if to say they were out.  Ultimately Geog lost in the second ot.

It seems to be ingrained into his wrestling philosophy that he will always have more strength and balance than his opponents.  At 133 for D1, the strength advantage was no longer there in the same way.  He is still horsing guys at 125.  He didn't change his ways, but he has found more success at 125 becuase of this IMO.  Wonder if McCrone transfers out

I'm be curious if it's worth transferring just to start when you're realistically probably not a top 15 guy in the country. Outside of his pin over Lilledahl, McCrone's only win over an AA was 2 years ago against Eddie Ventresca (the version of Eddie who went 2-7 and was getting majored by guys outside of the top 50). McCrone's best win (excluding Lilledahl and Bouzakis) is Dean Peterson from two years ago. McCrone would probably be #17 at best if he were ranked right now as he lost to both #12 and #14 at B10s last season, and lost to #15 and #16 at NCAAs without any notable wins since.

All fair points.  I brought it up also because 125 can be a weight class where it is more difficult to find someone for all for years and wondered if a top team could find themselves feeling the need to spend a little NIL to round out the roster.  all highly speculative of course.

So the thinking is, Bouzakis will be back at 125 next season?

In this scenario, yes?  I guess he could join his bro at Pitt which I thought could be on the table.   Maybe at Pitt he would go 133?  I think if he wants to be a title threat, 125 he will be.  at 133, he's more of a low AA guy to me.  Also nothing to scoff at.  Depends what he wants out of his career.

Mendez is done after this year, so does Davino or bouzakis bump up to 141 and McCrone would slide into 125 for his final year?

This would be a great situation if it works out that way for them.  I didn't know if Davino would want to move up.  Bouzakis at 141 seems like a bad idea.  Or at least an idea which may yield mediocre results.

Yeah was just trying to think of a way to fit everyone in…. If McCrone transfers out and bouzakis doesn’t want to stick at 125 then think true freshman Munaretto would be the wrestler

He also beat Sheldon Seymour when they were both redshirting.

This is his fourth year at tOSU, maybe he’ll graduate this year? And then could be a grad transfer, could maybe go to Michigan and get one of those real estate certificates that a bunch of their transfers have been getting.

They also have Mills, but I don't know if he will be a 125 or not

I could see Mills doing some damage as a true freshman if given the chance.  Incredible prospect

Yeah but my question would be more for 141, if Nic doesn’t want to stay at 125 I don’t see McCrone transferring and I see him there are 125…. Davino looks good at 133 and that’d be a good bump for Nic up to 141 and i don’t see him doing nearly as good there

2028 is not too far away, Bouzakis is likely 125 from here on out.

if he struggled then, yes he would likely bump up and or leave to start somewhere at 133.

the fact that he is dominating and showing good pop 2 hours off the scale tells me he is staying put and aiming for that natty title!

With Dom Munaretto and Antonio Mills coming in too, I think he definitely could

I don't think he can afford to not be huge for the weight.

I understand the discussion, but it seems obvious to me that Bouzakis will go 125 next year. He started the season st 125 and has not shown any late match conditioning issues yet.

Just looking at Davino, I dont see him at 141 next year, but he doesn't seem like a 57kg guy either, so it is possible.

Bouzakis will stay at 125 through 2028 trials.  Davino will stay at 133 and drop to 57kg for the trials as well.  Both have senior level aspirations and neither can fill out to 65 kg.

I'd love to see Nic stay down at 125 the next couple of years. I hope he can pull it off while also staying healthy.
