No.  Fortunately, the troops were getting paid during the shutdown.

My family in the military say that’s true during every shut down.

Trump admin had to redirect funds. Dems were willing to let them not get paid.

Fortunately the administration made the right decision and the troops got paid.  Fortunately that decision was made well prior to the vote that ended the shutdown, so it was a non factor in the vote.

I just read in another thread a couple people jumping on “stop imagining fake scenarios and hurting your own feelings”.  I wonder if they’ll jump on the same sign here.

Probably not.  Ironically, it was in the ‘enough hypocrisy” thread.

My main point is the same people who played political games with salaries on the line are trying to influence them within the month.

But….being that the decision was made well prior to the vote, three fulfilled paychecks prior to the vote in fact, makes the point you’re trying to make invalid, being that the troops’ salaries were in fact not on the line.  Added bonus that the ‘influence’ they were “trying” was upholding the constitution and code of military justice.

“Played political games” is an interesting choice of words though.

A private citizen named Timothy Mellon stepped up right away and contributed 130 million dollars to pay the troops. The Democrats blocked efforts to pay the troops during the shutdown. But the Republicans were able to redirect money to pay the troops.

And if they can do that they can pay for food stamps.

He should read the part about sedition himself. He doesn't understand chain of command and we're all less safe for it.

You can and SHOULD refuse unlawful orders. Otherwise, THOSE troops should be put to death or locked up in a very bad prison. Like nazis that followed hitlers orders.

You also shouldn't take candy from strangers. Hitchhiking is also a bad idea.

I'm not being smart but where did you find that there were 3 full paychecks guaranteed prior to the vote. My son and son in-law are serving in the military, and they received no such notice or guarantee about their pay. where did you get your information that this was done weeks in advance. If so, why did Mellon give 130 million dollars to help pay the soldiers.

I would say he must have left his common sense somewhere in outer space when he was orbiting the Earth.

The winger dems voted to not re-open the govt and risk not paying our troops, are now asking the same troops to defy illegal orders that they can’t name.

Did I get that right?
