Wow, great day for the US. Summarizing what's already been posted:

In Greco, Otto Black wins bronze, Max Black will wrestle for bronze tomorrow, and Melelashvili needs one win in the repechage tomorrow morning to also wrestle for bronze.

In Women's, we go undefeated with 3 into tomorrow's gold medal finals. (I thought going into today that it was about as good of a first 3 as we could have for the women at this tournament. What an awesome way to build momentum for the coming couple of days!)

Amazing performance. Only loss ends up being the 1-1 defeat to the gold medal Egyptian.

I hereby declare the Black family as the royal family of USA GR wrestling.

Max and Otto, as far as I know, may become the only US brothers to medal at the same U23 world championship, and LJB leads the nation in number of times banned from forums 🙂

Congratulations to the Black family.

I don't think he is banned from here.  I think he just doesn't want to bother with the drama that follows too many of the deplorables here.  What you guys have (had?) going on over on the Indiana forums was nice, consolidated, and without drama.

Unfortunately, he was banned from there, and in all honesty, the way they responded to my comments after they banned him was the reason I left.  One of their moderators was very quick to pull the trigger if anyone said anything bad about an Indiana wrestler or alumnus.

I exchanged texts with LJB

He is still banned, but can log in, read PMs and read the forums.  He wanted you to know that he reads your comments and appreciates your kind words.

He also said every time he reads your comments about GR he goes crazy 🙂

I'm seeing a bifurcation where Iran will have some weight classes where they have multiple entrants who could destroy the entire field. And if an Iranian is not way better than everyone at a specific weight, then there will be an Iranian and usually at least one: Azerbaijanian, Japanese , Russian wrestler that are really fighting for gold, while the rest of the field flounders.

There is a lot of parity outside a couple countries in Greco age level tournaments. Iran's flag has become like Nintendo gold quality seal.

Same here... AWS was getting hammered a day or so ago by bad guys, might be more of the same this time of the morning.

(In case anyone didn't know - we are actually in a constant cyberwar. It isn't cool - but it is where we are.)

Sadly, this morning went about as poorly as yesterday went well, from a US perspective.

Summary:

As D3 shared above, Melelashvili goes down in a repechage match to the Iranian.

In women's, all 4 of our ladies lost, with Rodriguez at 55 and Mir at 65 having a chance to be brought back into tomorrow's repechage matches if the right women win in the 11am semifinals.

Max Black will wrap up our Greco campaign when he wrestles for a 3rd American bronze at 60kg at noon. All 3 of our ladies from yesterday--Jimenez, Robinson, and Welker--will go for gold in that same session.

Mesenbrink and Josh Barr get our men rolling tomorrow alongside the final 3 ladies' weights.
