That was a FILTHY headlock, that Japanese wrestler was 2xu17 and 2xu20 world champ. Maybe never lost an international match?

Team USA has had a great performance!  Yes We expected more out of Spencer yet we didn't expect to be in the team hunt and we are.  Can't say enough about our current staff and USA Wrestling system.  We are continually competing for medals.  Great job TEAM USA and finish strong!!!

Outside of the bookends, pretty positive - will be interesting to see how much the delta is between USA and the top spot (barring a great USA finish) & the impact of those 2 results.

Honestly, only our book-ends laid a dud.  Everyone else wrestled tough.  Carr, Duke, Real, Jax - despite not bringing home Gold (or Silver) all wrestled to their potential (I think).

Spencer: 1-1 (eliminated) - Disappointing.

Jax: 3-2 (5th) - This feels really good, especially when you consider that he (arguably) should have been a medalist.

Real: 1-1 (still hope for a bronze) - About what I expected.

Duke: 1-1 (11th) - Can't be mad about this effort.

Carr: 3-1 (going for bronze vs Sidakov) - About what I expected, but in retrospect it feels like he could have been a finalist.

Haines: In the finals - Better than I expected.

Zahid: Champ - Not a surprising result, but his dominance was at least slightly more that I expected.

Hidlay: In the finals - Feels about right.

Snyder: In the finals - Snyder just medals in world/Olympic events. Hopefully he can get another gold.

Wyatt: 0-1 (17th) - Not that surprised, but slightly disappointing.

In Snyder's final I think the difference is who is wrestling better at this moment. Could go either way but Snyder has got to be favorite. Snyder's run since 2015 is now approaching legendary GOAT status. If he can hold his body together 3 more years he could surpass Bruce, JB and Smith!

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Jax being fifth in the world at the age of 18 (I think) is insane. Wow.

Real talk... he is 3rd.  That singlet pull cost him a point, it's bull$hit.

Yes, Zahid beat him.  Also, Kueter won U-20 worlds with Azapira in his bracket, though they did not wrestle.  Then went home and played football.

Their first match was 2.5 years ago when Azarpira was 21. In their second match a year and a half ago, Snyder was up 3-0. After that, Azarpira went on to outscore Snyder 10-1 over their next 8 minutes of wrestling. Azarpira's loss to Zahid 2 years ago at age 21 was when he was sucked down to 92kg for the first time in numerous seasons. The only guy Azarpira would not be favored against is Taz--who he just beat. I like Kyle's chances, but he's not the favorite.

I don't disagree on anything.  Just some interesting data points.

Amouzad has gassed in every one of his matches.  Kiyooka has not.  Curious if that will be the difference maker this year.

I have to think it will be. Amouzad has looked amazing for about 4 minutes, but that’s not going to cut it against Kiyooka.

Oh yeah? Well I just went for a 4 mile shakeout jog in the midwest heatwave and dropped 5.2 pounds in less than 30 minutes but you don't see me making excuses about it.

Snyder wins tomorrow, beats Parris next month, and faces off against Sadulaev at the super bowl bye week RAF event.

i am not confident that Snyder even scores a point tomorrow.

It would be interesting to see whose visa Saduleev would use to enter the US.

Since I was in transit (and then, dealing w/ work related issues, of course).. I didn't get the chance to watch the whole Woods/Amouzad match. I'll have to view it later when I get the chance to do so.

On w/the viewing, champs!
