I’m not sure if he will leave, but he needs to. Look at how RBY was moving on his feet today. I would say on top of that Iowa needs a change of direction. It’s time. Make a huge splash, go get Burroughs or Dake(I think a Burroughs/lee situation could bring Iowa back).

The Brands had their time, but the sports evolved. As a die hard American it pains me to say it, but the “Iowa style” is dead in the water.

At least we’re ahead of those slimy cheating Russians in the point total.

Folkstyle is better and it’s AMERICAN

If rumors are true that he injured his knee again, I think it is more likely that he retires than relocates.

I hope he does whatever he feels is best for him. If that includes staying at Iowa, awesome. If not, so be it.

Let’s face it, Spencer Lees time has come. He possesses zero people skills to motivate others to do what he has accomplished. Let’s leave that opportunity to those with those skills. He is not one of them. The baton has now been handed over to those more capable of even far greater achievements.

False.  He just needs a change of scenery if he wants to take his game to the next level.

Where'd you see that he hurt his knee again?

He's been at Iowa for over a decade at this point.  He doesn't have to go to NLWC btw.  There are plenty of other places where he could get a fresh perspective.

Do you think after that showing, he will think he needs a new view?

I think he would retire and go into coaching before he leaves Iowa personally. I also do not think its an Iowa problem for him specifically I think he has a mental block.

I also think there's a mental block. What Brands is saying in the first 5 seconds of today's match jives with that. Also Lee gave an interview where he said Brands is telling him he's over thinking and just needs to wrestle and that Brands is trying to find ways to get him to relax basically (min 20 of the interview)

Does anyone know how binding his commitment to wrestle for the HWC through 2028 is?

I assume not very binding considering Warner, Cassioppi, and Marinelly ended their contracts early

That’s a little different in that they retired and probably not receiving compensation. (Or maybe a little because I still see Warner and Marinelli training with hwc guys).

Spencer going to another club might be a little different. I like Spencer and I like the brands, but if a change of scenery was able to get him over the top, I’d be all for it. Just not sure how the contract works and whether there’s a “no compete”

OkSt to get right mentally with Taylor and have a mentor/mentee relationship with Jax. Fix can stick around, and RBY will be mutually beneficial.

He doesn't have a mental block but he does have gas tank issues.  After that first exchange he looked to already be stumbling a bit.  Any time I see him bouncing in the middle I think oh crap, he's starting to feel it.  He's never been a guy to go and get a TD at the end of a match and that is a key to winning a world title.  He doesn't do that because he's tired.  I love the guy, was pulling hard for him, but he's either overtraining a bit or he just has bad lungs.

Bro... he got teched. Not a situation where heeded to get a clutch takedown.

And conditioning CAN be a mental thing.
