I thought we could all use a break from arguing about morality, religion, and all of the other side arguments we've been engaging in over the past few days and get back to the real reason we are all here. To talk about some wrastlin'. With the rumors of the Raney's heading to OKST, and the discussion about the logjam that is going to exist between 125-149 for the Pokes, I thought I would do a little dive into what their roster could look like once the outstanding 2026 recruiting class has had a chance to redshirt their true freshman year. Then I did the same with Penn State to compare their rosters.

Oklahoma State's roster will potentially include (assuming the Raney brothers rumor is true):

125/133: RSJR Sakamoto, RSSO Ramirez, RSJR McComas, RSFR Raney

141/149: RSSR Hughes, SO Jax Forrest, RSSO Vega, RSFR Wolbert, RSFR Raney

157/165: RSSO Routledge, RSSO Robideau,

174: JR Lockett

184: RSJR Ryder, RSSR Thompson

197: RSJR Merrill

285: RSFR Ross

Penn State's roster will potentially include:

125/133: SR Lilledahl, RSSO Desmond, RSSR Davis

141/149: JR Blaze, RSFR Herring, RSSO Perry

157/165: JR Duke, RSSR Kasak, RSJR Sealey, RSFR Jayden James

174/184: SR Welsh, RSSO Henckel, RSSO Cunningham,

197: SR Barr, RSJR Mirasola

285: RSJR Mirasola

I think ideally (all prospects live up to their hype) for both teams a dual would look like this.

  Oklahoma State Penn State
125 Raney Lilledahl
133 Raney Desmond
141 Jax Blaze
149 Vega Herring
157 Robideau Kasak
165 Routledge Duke
174 Lockett Henckel
184 Ryder Welsh
197 Merrill Barr
285 Ross Mirasola

Feel free to use the pools of wrestlers above to make your own rosters, tell me where I made a mistake, or you disagree. Could Oklahoma State beat Penn State for the title in 2028? Is it a close race? Are any other teams going to be in the conversation? Let's hear it.

I don’t know enough about the HS guys to comment.

But overall seems like OSU has had a lot of momentum so yeah I could see them challenging in 2028.

Is the PSU lineup above assuming Kasak redshirts over the next 2 years?

I think it makes sense that he either redshirts this year or next for the sake of the line-up. Mesenbrink and SVN have two more years, and either Duke or Kasak are going to be without a spot, so it would make sense for each of them to take a RS in the next two years if they are both willing. If Duke is the better guy, he could just take the spot and Kasak could be forced to transfer if he wants to compete his senior year.

A lot can change, but ‘28 shaping up to be a close team race for sure.  Minneapolis is the place to be.  Now, if Okie State doesn’t win ‘29 and ‘30, it will be a colossal failure.

Will they just fill In with more floor seats? Obviously the top decks will be blocked out, but for sure will be interesting.  If they open the parking lot for tailgating, I’ll probably be there.

Don't like divulging too much insider info but I can confirm Cael and DT made an agreement last night regarding future blue chip recruits.  DT agreed to  coin flip on who gets who.  Rules are Heads Cael wins & tails Taylor loses

Don't fall for the classic fantasy matchup black hole that Taylor beats Dake in volleyball or dodgeball.

Oh, I'll be there. I just won't be happy.

March in Minn. is not ideal tailgating weather - could even snow.

Likewise. I’ve gone to 9 straight NCAAs with my group of wrestling friends and we plan on continuing that trend. The

one we were going to skip was Minneapolis thinking it wouldn’t be a great venue for spectators so we planned for the Olympic Trials at PSU instead that year.

Covid had other plans… I still have the tickets for trials in a cabinet as a keepsake, maybe a prop for a younger generation to tell a story for how crazy that time was and we couldn’t even watch wrestling.

I will be getting my eyes checked before NCAAs in Minneapolis for sure.

Not just stay underground - some have even been known to disappear completely during the 3rd period of a hwt. championship match.

This is going to be fascinating. I don't know what the Raney's Collegiate careers look like. I don't think the Mirasola's will stick around if we're 3 years into their careers and the "better" Mirasola isn't starting.

BUT, just looking at OKC...that is a TON of talent and I think once you get past '33, it starts to lean to OKC if they can be developed...I don't know man, it looks like that's pretty damn close. I love Ross. I'm driving that bandwagon with the normal *if healthy, if a one sport athlete caveat, but I don't know if anyone not named Kueter is beating him if he's Wrestling still(I'm not sure where that Football career is going, but I doubt he's giving up on it...but he's also really hurting it at this point...IF he has the talent to play at the next level).

Jax and Blaze is a toss-up. Vega and Herring, gotta go Vega. I'll take Kaak and Duke at the next two, then Lockett and Rydger, Barr and Ross.

Who knows. 3 years ago I'm not sure I'd have Barr as my clear favorite to win the NC after taking 2nd as a Freshmen at 197, but I made a post about this when the Raney's committed, just based on the next 2 recruiting classes, I don't know who has more talent, but I know who recruited more complete classes.

I know, after putting this together, I was disappointed at how far away it feels when we'll finally get to see it. These 2025 and 2026 classes have to have the most loaded top 10s in recent history. The amount of wrestlers that are competitive on the senior level is unprecedented. It will be interesting who can continue their trajectory and who will plateau. I can't wait for an actual team race.

I would definitely predict it based on those lineups. I have a hard time seeing Desmond and Herring in the lineup, though. Wouldn’t be surprised if Mirasola is gone/replaced as well. So many variables and unknowns with the portal and other things. Oklahoma State looks very legit into the future for sure.

A lot can change between now and then, absolutely. This is just a guess based on current commits/roster configuration. Braeden Davis will likely still be on the roster in 2028 assuming he redshirts either this year or next depending on the plan with Ono and Blaze.

LOL...I know. I just saw a post where Duke beats Taylor and someone is talking about how "common" it is for HS Wrestlers to beat NCAA Champs now.

It's not. It's happened a few times in recent years with THIS group of studs, but it's not "common." I'd even take it back a year and start with the '24 class. '24, '25, '26 are just special groups that are going to make the NCAAs real fun the next few years(not that they aren't anyway).
