I recently had a family member get caught up in this exact same scenario.  All moral judgements and ethical questions aside, KS is going to end up registering on a list that will more than likely prevent him from being around a lot if places.  I would imagine clinics, schools, and you tournaments are out of the equation.  Depending on what USA wrestling decides to do he may not be able to compete at SR level events.  Is there any precedent for this scenario?  How does NLWC respond?

Effectively, he has torpedoed his wrestling career for the foreseeable future unless he has some Cornell level lawyers in his back pocket.  Truly a disappointing development.

Unless the officer was also posing as a child, this seems unlikely to me.  At least in Florida.

He most likely would not be put on the list unless he was under the assumption the other person was a minor.

Not a law expert, @VakAttack?, but wouldn't that only apply if the perpetrator sought out a minor

fair enough but i don't think thats a useful definition. Its like saying if you punch someone you are a hypocrite unless you like being punched. Also by this definition is snyder a hyporcrite forever?  Really not hungry for a semantic argument just my take.

That's fine, but it is the definition of the word.   I thinks its more like if Synder says don't punch people in the face, then does punch someone in the face, that would be hypocritical.   It has nothing to do with him liking to be punched or not.

Does that mean he is forever? I don't know, he was in this instance but I am willing to forgive him and hope he gets things figured out.

This appears to be state level, and I don't know Ohio's law on the subject, but in Florida it's a misdemeanor and does nto require registration.

There could be some people who read this and say, “Oh, God’s plan…that’s just a way to rationalize defeat.” What would you say to them?

Snyder:  I would say that the Bible says that not even a sparrow falls to the ground without him knowing it. And he’s got all the stars numbered and named, and that he knows the beginning from the end, and every day of my life has been accounted for. So I believe when I’m saying things like that, that’s just the truth. And it’s not that I don’t go out and do my best. I go out and compete as hard as I can every time. I asked God to help me win and to honor and glorify him, but he’s got a better plan.

What are your best memories from Paris?

Snyder:  I loved seeing my son (Judah) and wife (Maddie) after I competed in my first match.  They got front row seats, so they were right there. That’s one of my favorite memories. I hadn’t seen them in three weeks, so it was a long time.

And speaking of family, you’re approaching a big event.

Snyder: Yeah, my wife is going to be having our second baby in about a week. We’re having a baby girl, so we’re excited about that. And our son will be two on October 4, so she’ll be here before he even turns two years old. It’s exciting for us.

This seems like it was a fake prostitute where he met the officer undercover under the assumption they were a prostitute.

Doesn’t sound like trafficking to me from the article at least.   With thad said is he really married and was at a wedding?   Was she there and did he leave to get with said tute?

Snyder, a three-time world champion, was taken into custody by the Columbus Division of Police’s Police and Community Together (PACT) unit during a sting operation on the city’s north side. Authorities said he allegedly responded to an online advertisement and arranged to meet undercover officers at a hotel.

Police said Snyder exchanged money and solicited sexual acts from an undercover officer before being arrested on a charge of engaging in prostitution.

Maybe Snyder was just saying the same prayer that Bo Nickal prayed to his haters... Bo just left out the part about paying for it.

Hmmm, a quick read of some Ohio statutes is a BIT more concerning.  Again, not an expert in Ohio law, but there is a "tiered" system for sex offender registration there and a "Tier 2 " sex offender includes someone convicted of "compelling prostitution."  Gonna have to see the formal charges (when law enforcement arrests you, the charges on the police report aren't necessarily the charges you will face once the prosecutors look at the case).

I checked online and it seems Ohio is similar to how you described Florida.  3rd degree misdemeanor as long as the person is 18 years of age or older.  Felony for a minor or someone with developmental disabilities.  Also a felony if the solicitor has previously tested positive for HIV

How in this instance would he be prosecuted for "compelling prostitution" when it was a sting operation

Well on the PSU board they are implying this wasn’t his first time doing this.  Hopefully not while he was living in Cael’s basement.

A lot of it depends on what the court interpretations prior to this case (precedent) allow for.  The statute uses very simple language, but it doesn't define what "compelling" means and if it requires a simple attempt to get someone to have sex for hire, or if the alleged victim has to be a real person.  An Ohio attorney on their page here:

https://www.columbuscriminalattorney.com/sex-offenses/internet-sex-sting-operations/

Says you can be charged for Compelling Prostitution out of these types of stings, but does specify that it all depends on the specific facts of the allegations.

When you follow Calvinism to it's logical conclusion you land in determinism or that God determines all that happens. Calvinism is a wicked Gnostic system and Snyder's response sounds like someone that adheres to Calvinism to me.
