He was embarrassed, quit, and showed he doesn't have the mental toughness to be a MMA fighter.  Should he retire and go into coaching wrestling instead?

Bo is basically Ed Ruth, who also hung it up before he hit a dozen MMA fights.  No shame in it.

I vote yes.

I think he'll go one more time.   If he loses, that may be it.   If he loses, that hurts physically and emotionally and that is something he is not used to.   He took some heavy knees, bad defense.   Like I could do better ha ha.

It would be a bit rash to retire after one loss wouldn't it? It wasn't as if he was knocked out in 5 seconds like Askren.

I think we'll see Bo continue MMA for awhile.

if he can make slight improvements year over year for the next few years he will probably stumble into the top 5 simply because 185 is a very old division that is not really budding with new talent.

To be fair.  He is approaching his peak age relative to the ufc.   The avg age for a first time champ is around 29 years old.  Bo is 29 and had been at this for let’s say 4-7 years.  Not sure the right # there.

the eye test says he’s a mile from being a top 5 contender.

on the flip side I’m not saying he should retire.  I wouldn’t mind see him shovel some humble pie a few more times before slipping out of the lime light.

problem is now that the secret is out of the bag.  Juicy odds to bet against him will no longer be this lucrative.

Did his mom break her glasses?

If yes then yes ... if no then no.

Why not become a full-time analyst/podcaster/influencer? He's much better at yapping than he is at taking a hit.

People seem to really dislike him. He hasn't got much charisma and he's a really ugly dude. That wouldn't lend itself to a career as a commentator. On the other hand, lots of people hated Howard Cosell and look how successful he was.

I think he's done enough to cement himself as one of those top tier guys. GSP, Silva, Jones, and then Nickal of course. He can hang them up with his head held high!

Jon Jones would pull Bo apart like a wishbone.

Bo's was worse...

Nickal has to hope to have as good a career as Askren.

I think Bo has a better UFC record than Askren did. Askren got beaten to a pulp in 2 of his 3 UFC fights. Bellator is the MMA equivalent of D3.

Askren is better.

Askren was 19-2 in his MMA career. He was away from the game for a year and a half before his first UFC fight, where he beat a former champ then #6 ranked Robbie Lawler who was brutal. Askren got destroyed to start out that fight and he came back and won. Bo took a modest amount of damage by MMA standards and wilted. Askren was a champ like a dozen times over in Bellator and ONE. The guys he was beating for those belts were better than anyone Bo has beaten.

Dammit Jimmy, you've done it again. Always asking the questions others dare not to ask. A lion amongst sheep. Kings stay kings, Jimmy. Never change. 🫡

Don't confuse him with logic. You might find yourself next in line to get snapped like a toothpick.

I'm not the only one. Is Bellator even the D3 of MMA? Maybe NAIA? JUCO?
