Now schools are still going to have donors that want their money to go to wrestling. I'd be curious if they are better off giving to the school or giving to a NIL trust.  I have a feeling college wrestling is going to look very different in 2-3 years.

Best option might be to earmark or donate directly to the wrestling program, as long as it doesn't take away from what the department allocates for wrestling. My guess is that once the dust settles, there won't be much of a difference between giving to the athletic dept vs. an NIL collective, as there's speculation that they'll all fall under one umbrella or that collectives will go away altogether.

That's not they way I read the agreement. Don't think everyone has to be on scholarship. It says that school may offer 30.

Correct. VT's using around 13-15, I'd imagine that's pretty universal for schools that Opt in and aren't named PSU, Iowa, or Ok State

Cael Sanderson has said they will not be anywhere near 30 scholarships. I imagine Iowa and Oklahoma State will also be well below 30 unless the NIL market value assessments are effective in decreasing deal sizes. Then, the three existing big donors may turn to endowing incremental scholarships. The one drawback to that approach is it doesn't allow for the current system of concentrating payments for big stars.

They go to the ultimate wrestling purgatory: the "Unattached" category in WrestleStat! 🫣

Is it similar to when posters like @PortaJohn end up in the Zoo?  🤷‍♀️
