Wrench: Both Haines and Ryder head out in the portal.

by similar logic, it didn't "make sense" for Dean to go there either with Beard as a freshman AA, but sometimes things happen.

It made sense for Dean, it makes sense for Welsh, it’s just kinda meh for the team in terms of tournament scoring. He makes them barely better.

I’m guessing Ryder rides the pine, then 174 for three years.

I would rather Haines redshirt.  Ryder is too good to waste a year.

Is he too good to ride the pine?  Maybe that's why they named him Ryder?

Also, I’m guessing/hoping that Casey sends Jr and Henckel out here to be trained by J’Den for a year.

Someone still has to sit the year after. I’d guess ZR would rather have three tournaments at Penn State than four anywhere else, but we shall see. If he can’t beat Welsh, he probably wasn’t going to place next year anyway. 184 will be loaded.

I also would guess a lot of these guys’ international goals are greater than those of college. And the Penn State RTC is the place to be. But yeah, see what happens

Serious question, has there been any PSU alumnus that did not transfer out and had notable international freestyle success that wasn’t at least a 3 (maybe even 4) year starter for the college team?  Seems like if they can’t consistently crack the PSU lineup, they probably aren’t going to accomplish their international dreams either.

1) I think Ryder is here to stay because I think he has more international dreams and believes PSU is the best place for him to succeed which he’s probably right

2) My school just f*****g blocked flowrestling and I’m pissed

3) I think I’m one of the only ppl in my school that uses Flo but I’m pretty sure I spent so much time on it that they blocked it

4) Idk just wanted 4

Suriano is probably the most accomplished transfer out of PSU (and Rutgers)

I included the line “that did not transfer out.”  Suriano would have started had he stayed at PSU

It really does make no sense. I can’t imagine Welsh picked PSU without getting any cash. In this day of NILs, he’s worth a lot to many schools. But he barely helps PSU (if at all). Why would they spend any money on him? Eventually this has to have an effect on recruiting.
