Is there any precedent to everyone thinking that PSU may turn a blind eye to some indiscretions? Any examples at all?

It doesn't even have to be wrestling. It could even be another sport.

Every athletic director at all levels does.  Athletic directors are really physical performance entertainment directors.  The only time somebody gets busted is if they are so eye-catching as to start raising fake ethical questions which wind up threatening revenue streams.

Steroids are already all over sports, they are a serious boon to orthopedic longevity in high impact or repetitive motion sports.  We have just arbitrarily vilified them because....?

Nobody has an answer why...we just have.

Don't worry about high fructose corn syrup though, that is...you know...well there's nothing wrong with it keep buying your coke and your ozempic please.

One guy made the jump from 157 to 174 and looks like the strongest guy in the higher weight class. He has the exaggerated traps, delts, and pecs.  I raised an eyebrow...  but he doesn't have the cannonball shoulders... so maybe he just ate normal and "worked hard."

Strong sure, but also a guy who looks blockier and noticeably a step slower at that weight…  which probably indicates a higher body fat %.

no acne... then this season.

I have no idea one way or the other...

Haines is someone i thought might have been

he is HUGE going UP to 174... he was big already at WTT back in omaha..

i always thought KOT was big, then he wrestled haines and haines made him look small and soft

If someone is making that change at say - age 24 to 25 - then sure you can raise an eye brow.
The people in question are still at an age where it is normal to be growing (especially filling out even when done growing in height).

This isn't a Barry Bonds transformation.  To me unless someone actually is aware of information to prove the contrary, this all comes off as tabloid type jealous BS.

Or maybe he just hit a growth spurt and if you go back in time their was a poster (it's me) who said don't be surprised if he finishes his career up at 184.  If you knew his family you would know his dad and uncle are big fellas

The irony in an iowa wrestler pointing a finger at a PSU wrestler is...worth observing.

Gear is everywhere.  This is professional sports.

No kidding. Give it “everything”, for one final shot?

This is one of the most absurd posts I've read on this board. What has Meyer done to make you take these kinds of digs at a 20 year old kid? I don't know what he did at the end of the match in question, but wow this is distasteful. Listen to his interview and listen to what the kids been through the last month.

Just because he has been through a world of crap doesn't mean he can say whatever baseless things he wants to and get a free pass.

I also took it as sour grapes and sore losing.

Oof, Jacob Warner and Alex Marinelli, two high class individuals, joining in. This might be a hole they don't wanna go down for the sport...

Warner ain't been right in the head since Dean took his soul.  Same for ole Lunchbox Mits after Amine took his soul.

These guys are not 17 year-old college kids. These are kids who have been held back, taken RS yrs. - they're adding lbs. in their 20s. I wish I had your level of naivete.

I didn’t think KOT looked bigger than anyone notable he wrestled this year. He’s never really had that physique. I thought Haines looked pretty average-sized at 174 this year. He*l, Patrick Kennedy made him look small.

I don't think he's 21 yet.  maybe he's 20?  regardless.  I was still growing at that point.  and that's not unusual.  You don't need to be naive, but have some class.  No one required you to make a baseless accusation against a kid

Lol, no he didn't. Plus Barr has gained probably 25-30 lbs of muscle in the past 2 years.

Barr has gotten about two inches taller and eight inches broader.

Still a 184lber sizewise, though.

Kasak wrestled U17s in July of 2022.  So how old do you think he is?

To actually address the point at hand, it would be less surprising than the sun coming up if kasak was indeed drinking a few extra dbol milkshakes during practice.

God is good, but so is louie simmons, and louie built a lot of much bigger benches.

I'll tell you what - I had more acne than he does when I was a sophomore in high school.  It sucked!

I never thought KOT looked big, ever, FWIW.  Never jacked, either.

Learn how to read words and do a little research.  I'm sure you're all in your feelings because of something unfortunate that happened to the young man.

I've watching enough of shapiro to know that, and this is putting it as charitably as possible, his behavior is "unpredictable" when his emotions get bigger than he knows how to control.  This is not a new thing.  In no way am saying I wish him ill, but accidents don't excuse poor behavior or being a douchebag.  They also don't excuse you from being called out for same.

Go to 1:25:40 and watch from there, you'll see enough.

honestly no idea what you're talking about. I thought in the closing seconds of the match he was trying to get a turn for a major. Lovett grabbed his fingers, Shapiro got a little aggressive with the armbar, Lovett pushed him in the face as time expired, Shapiro explained himself to the corner, Lovett came at him, pissed off, but he and Shapiro talked it out, shook hands and moved on. Flash of emotion by both guys, mature reconciliation by both guys.

was this testing done by the school or what? and was it always the same wrestlers chosen? others are saying in D1 they never ever got tested.

I thought he was implying that they kept testing his kid so none of the full-time starters were at risk.

I don't think Shapiro was accusing Kasak, though I do think he was generally implying that some people/programs are cutting with the help of steroids. Also implying that he'd need the boost to go 165 or to go down to 149 without sapping his own strength. He prefers to wrestle without the deep cut that is standard in wrestling, which is good for his long term health. Better for his long term health than repeatedly landing on his head, at least.
