It seems like it has already started! The first big name in the portal is Taye Ghadiali, he’s also listed as do not contact.

Also, would this be considered poaching..? Season hasn’t even ended yet and he is already listed as do not contact in the portal. Campbell was going from 9 scholarships to 3 but it seemed like he would never leave Campbell (which is a little school that produces well at times). Maybe that had a play or someone is out poaching a little early and taking from a smaller program.

I'm gonna take a stab at it and say Rutgers could be in the mix too.  They've known for a while they need a portal heavy after Yara is done this year.

I thought someone here speculated that due to the Campbell situation, Sentes encouraged him to go in the portal and get paid.  No clue if any truth to that

That’s interesting if true, but that would be odd to send off your most high valued wrestler and not use him to be the face of the program or use as a catalyst to change Campbell course. 
 

Totally get it though. He deserves to get paid! Just unfortunate if he can’t do it at a smaller program. But all understandable, let’s see where he lands!

Poaching is when a wrestler is not in portal but gets contacted and offered money to leave...then they leave. 

I am happy to call other teams poachers using the same definition ... but Iowa are the kings of poaching.

I would call it" Taye has been injured and not wrestling in conferences and went into the portal and has a handful of schools he is interested in and will seek out his school of choice." Not... "Teemer is doing camps for ASU, registered for classes, not in the portal, but being chased by Iowa all summer and offered more and more money to drop out of ASU and go to Iowa... which he ended up doing."  Do you not see the difference between situations or are you just lumping them all together as one? 

Remember several years ago when your dad called the WIllits brothers and Pendleton had to publicly tell Iowa to stay away from his guys?

Anybody have that one free year that they can't use at their current institution (Ivy) or just someone who it makes sense to make a move?

For me, and I said this last year, I want to see Gilcher head somewhere else than Indiana.  I was hoping it would be Michigan this year, to wrestle with his brother, but I don't think he starts at Michigan if he heads there next year.  Also, not sure Dylan starts at Michigan next year, either.  Catrabone is a stud... like a mini-Rogotzke without the illegal slams.

Now, were Dylan to head to Indiana (which I am told that Indiana and Michigan were has final two), I could get to see them both give it a go.  I just don't know what weight the bigger Gilcher goes, because Lillard is holding down 165lbs (unless Lillard heads up/down).  What school would want/need their services?  A school like Buffalo (which has connections to Michigan via a former wrestler on their coaching staff - Freeman)?

Josh Saunders (Cornell) might be able to head elsewhere (North Carolina?) or Gregor Diakomihalis (to Virginia Tech)?

Maximus Hale of Penn might be looking to head elsewhere (Michigan needs a 184lber yeah?)?  Composito was in the same class as Hale, so he might need to head elsewhere.
