Pretty straightforward. Not that there won't be upsets, but happy to know there will be a lot less random "occurrences" in a 6 team tournament than an 18 team tournament.

So Cornell looks like the Penn State of the Ivies.   Penn looks like it has a path to 8 in the finals.

Some may say this is the first Ivy Tourney, but the first one was in 1905 at Penn and started the EIWA tournament and probably collegiate wrestling tournaments.  Think it was Penn, Yale and Columbia.  Penn did not win the tournament until Syracuse in 1996 - 91 years but they stayed with it!

Just merged SoCon and MAC tournaments not too long ago why are we breaking up EIWA?

IVY wanted their own qualifier. (So, they got it.)

Kind of ironic that they wanted to get out of the EIWA, since, like Elevator mentioned above, they started the EIWA tourney in the first place... run by the students even!

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

(If memory served yours truly correct... it was started and run by the students before it was turned over to officials who ran the organization there on in.)

SoCon still stands alone, MAC and EWL merged a few years back.

I feel this decision to split will directly lead to multiple programs being cut

Couldn't disagree more. Having the Ivy League schools in their own (home) conference makes it less likely, not more, that those schools will drop, and the EIWA dropping down to a more manageable number will make it more likely (moves the 0.01% over a decimal) that programs in the northeast region of the country will be able to start a program and find a conference immediately, something that (you probably recall) Morgan State had to wait a year to do.
