Was a great site for Missouri HS Wrestling for years. I did Rankings on there for several years and loved all the discussion they generated. Dual & Tournament results, lineup discussions, etc. IIRC it then became a site behind a paywall. Good luck these days trying to find a similar amount of info on Missouri HS Wrestling.

The board is pretty quiet. Let’s discuss the upcoming season for our Tigers. The Mizzou roster appears to be set at 30. Way too many 133 & 174's. God forbid if anything happens to Mendoza or Sinclair. Good performances at WTT by Mauger, Mendoza, & Sinclair. Surprised that Fugitt & Steed don’t freestyle. Thoughts/projections on where this squad could finish. Lineup ? Is top 10 realistic ? Lastly, the Big 12 (9) will look much different this season.

3 of the top 4 teams won’t be there … Maryland is there …. This event is seriously diminished in year 2 … the math is simple

WKN - In your opinion, what would be the ideal “sample size” for this Rankers analysis ? Understanding that individuals doing the Rankings could change periodically. 3 years ? 5 yrs ? More, less ? Thanks.

So, 3 of the top 4 NCAA finishers (Penn St., Nebraska, & Iowa) NOT participating along with multiple Ivy League Top 20 Teams. It’s disappointing to see this event (which was awesome in its inaugural season) already losing massive star power in year 2. Moving this event back a full month may be its undoing (and CKLV as well). Hoping the organizers move the dates back to mid November in Season 3 to restore this event back to greatness.

Was hoping to get Endene to fill the 197 slot. Did he even visit Missouri ?

Not much of an explanation on why NDI was moved back a month from mid Nov to mid Dec …. A change which essentially trivializes our only decent in-season tournament, CKLV.

Have all of these Programs in the newly expanded Pac 12 “opted in” ? If so, would that be a requirement for Tarleton St. to also join the Pac 12 ?

Completely agree. NDI was 3 weeks prior to CKLV in ‘25 & 3 teams participated in both events. Doubt if any teams do both in ‘26 with the event being separated by a wk. It stinks for CKLV as it will most certainly impact the quality of that tournament in a very bad way. And it’s the only decent in season tourney we have. Wish they would have kept it mid-Nov. Any reason why they moved it to mid-Dec in such close proximity to Vegas ?

I was hoping he would be a Tiger coming out of high school. Not sure how heavily he was recruited my Mizzou (or) if the Oklahoma offer was too good to turn down?

As a Big 12 fan, I hate to lose South Dakota State as they have really developed into a consistent quality Program. Happy for the PAC 12 though.

I didn’t specifically mention Lilledahl as he wrestled his HS freshman season in Missouri (CBC) before going to PA to wrestle at Wyoming Seminary. He could be either MO or PA in my opinion. The listed hometown would then be a good tie breaker in that multi-HS-State situation. Lilledahl’s situation is completely different from Tinker … who’s family moved from MO to CA in 2018 & never wrestled HS in MO. To me, it’s just makes sense to classify him as CA. Anyway, I enjoyed what you put together.

Great stuff ! My only question would be : why is “hometown” prioritized over “High School”when determining the State ? Case in point : 285 Trevor Tinker is shown as Missouri although he never wrestled HS in MO (wrestled exclusively in California). Using HS over hometown would be a more valid approach in my opinion.

A little late to the party as I took a few weeks off this board after getting back from Cleveland. My guess : 125 - Mauger 133 - Walker 141 - Hilton 149 - Mendoza 157 - Gleason 165 - Conway 174 - Steed 184 - Sinclair 197 - Transfer Portal 285 - Stillwell IMO, this lineup would finish in the Top 10 … purely with the addition of Mendoza.

Are there rumors of Smith hitting the portal or are you just speculating ? Would be a huge loss for the Terps.

Where did I claim that he "obviously didn't wrestle up to his ability at Big 12s." ???? I didn't state that. Don't attribute other posters responses to me. That is sloppy. Read what I posted. I stated "His resume wasn't good enough to get a B12 Allocation so he really needed a Win against an Allocated wrestler or a finish in the Top 5". I stand by that. If you want to say that he deserved a B12 Allocation, that is entirely a different discussion.

He went 1-7 against NCAA qualifiers with his only win being against #30 Seed Root (N. Carolina)... and had a .600 Win Pct. His resume wasn't good enough to get a B12 Allocation so he really needed a Win against an Allocated wrestler or a finish in the Top 5.

This is debatable. Me and my wrestling friends never viewed the move @ 157 as a significant upgrade. Always viewed both wrestlers ceiling as R16. Travis went into B12 with a limited resume and did nothing to improve it. Close losses don’t count on the At-Large criteria. What isn’t debatable is that Mendoza should have been allowed to be our 149. It was obvious after the paycom duals & Soldier Salute.

Does earning a Conference Championship weigh more heavily this year ? The Champs Manual states : The Division I Men’s Wrestling Committee will use the following weighted criteria, in priority order, to evaluate the wrestlers: ● Head-to-head competition — 25%. ● Quality wins — 20%. ● Qualifying event placement — 15% so ... 15% for the Champ and 0% for the rest of the placers ? Was it 15% in previous seasons ? Thanks to anybody who can clarify.

After NCAA's last season, I was very frustrated & disappointed but not 100% in favor of a leadership change as I believed (and still do to a lesser extent) that Coach Smith deserved a long runway on his decision to depart. He clearly did an outstanding job at building the Program from ashes. A year later .... after watching Mizzou unable to retain Elam, the complete mishandling of 149, the unproductive incoming Portal guys, and the general overall lack of wrestler development ... I am of the belief that change is necessary sooner than later. I am also bewildered why quality Missouri homegrown wrestlers like Roark, Fugitt, Woodcock, etc. weren't pursued ? Overachievement at the upcoming NCAA's could of course temper my opinion.

Woodcock did earn an Allocation. I was rooting for him as he is a Missouri kid. Still hoping Woodcock can get a "True 2nd" match although that would be against another Missouri kid (Brett Smith - N. Illinois). Lol.

Bianchi upset. Wow ! How much will this affect his NCAA Seed (he should get an At-Large).
